"It worked!"
At the craftsman's excited shout, Gray couldn't help looking over.
He beckoned with his right hand, and the ring resting on the workbench flew toward him under his control of the magnetic field.
The ring was only one meter in diameter.
The Flying Wheel weapon was designed around a hexagram, with the ring decorated like a clock face.
At each of the twelve hour marks, a steel ball the size of an adult's thumb was embedded through the ring.
Between the steel balls, six Flying Wheels were set into the remaining hexagram-shaped gaps. They were red with black patterns, making them not only beautiful but also giving them an impressive look at first glance.
(They were roughly like Luffy's Gear Fourth: black as the base color, with red patterns as accents. The protagonist's colors were the exact opposite.)
The steel balls and Flying Wheels were Gray's main means of attack. Once their offensive power was assured, the ring itself became another highlight.
Drawing on the ideas of a descendant of the dragon from his previous life, Gray had two five-clawed golden dragons carved along the left and right sides of the ring, winding around it.
Of course, to match the two golden dragons, the entire ring was forged from gold. It was designed purely for beauty, as well as the mystery and power of two dragons playing with a pearl.
This was the ultimate weapon Gray had designed for himself: Mountains and Seas!
Excluding labor costs, the materials alone had cost two hundred million Beli.
He controlled the magnetic field, and Mountains and Seas settled behind him, hovering five centimeters from his back.
"So cool, little Gray!" The many craftsmen all gave him a thumbs-up and praised him sincerely.
One of them brought over a full-length mirror, letting Gray clearly see his appearance.
At fourteen, Gray was already nearly two meters tall. His handsome face, paired with the mysterious and magnificent Mountains and Seas, gave off an overwhelming aura of strength.
If he flew into the sky and went barefoot, the sheer intensity of it would be breathtaking. Just imagining it made Gray feel like a real powerhouse.
"Zeahahaha! I'm very satisfied!"
"Of course. With the combined efforts of so many craftsmen, and with you melting the ore for us, there was no way we'd forge a bad weapon."
"I can guarantee that your Mountains and Seas will be at least a Skillful Grade Sword, even if it doesn't quite reach Great Grade Sword level." Having poured all their effort into forging the weapon, the craftsmen had naturally given it everything they had. They would never let it turn out poorly.
"Hahaha! Great!"
"Don't worry. I'll not only make this weapon famous, I'll forge it into a Black Blade, too."
"Once I've made an even greater name for myself in the world, this will become a Supreme Grade Sword!"
The craftsmen were overjoyed to hear that. Even though they knew it was just a promise, they had no regrets. They had taken part in forging such a weapon in their lifetimes.
Besides, as people who had spent their entire lives working with ore, they knew that Gray must be no ordinary person to melt it with nothing but his own ability.
Even if Gray never became one of the world's top fighters, he could still become a renowned one—and that would be enough to ensure the weapon wasn't forgotten.
"Haha! We believe in you, little Gray."
"We'll talk about making a name for myself later. Just wait and see." Having acquired his new weapon, Gray could hardly wait to test it. "I saw all the hard work you put in. Everyone's getting an extra six months' bonus. Go buy a nice gift for your family!"
"Now I'm going to test the weapon!"
"Thank you, little Gray!" Seeing Gray fly straight off, the craftsmen were grateful. Since they'd already received their reward, they weren't about to hold back their thanks.
Whoosh—
Gray shot skyward at breakneck speed. Looking down at the ground, he felt an indescribable exhilaration well up in his chest, making him want to let out a long, loud cry.
Unfortunately, this was the family's secret weapon-manufacturing base. That kind of behavior was out of the question, so Gray had to suppress the urge.
Hovering in the sky, he spread his Observation Haki over the area and looked down at himself as if from a god's-eye view.
The two dragons playing with a pearl, carved into the golden ring of Mountains and Seas on his back, gleamed in the sunlight. They lent Gray a hint of majesty.
Inside the ring, six golden frames lined its inner edge, with Flying Wheels spinning inside them.
These six frames served a purpose. When Gray wasn't using his ability, they were magnetic and held the Flying Wheels in place, preventing them from falling out.
When Gray used his ability, he gathered the magnetic field into a single whole. The hollow Flying Wheels inside then spun on their own, like little pinwheels.
The Flying Wheels had changed in color and size, but they'd retained the beauty of their snowflake design.
The fiery red snowflakes, accented with black patterns, gave the Flying Wheels an alluring, mysterious quality even though they weren't snow white.
Each Flying Wheel was only ten centimeters in diameter, about the size of an adult's cupped hands.
Of course, no one should underestimate them just because they were small.
Most of their material came from minerals found at the bottom of volcanoes. Gray had melted and refined the ore to its utmost limit with his ability before combining it with two other materials to forge the final product.
Each one weighed a hundred pounds, and its tolerance for extreme heat had been greatly increased.
Gray couldn't test its exact limits yet. Based on the craftsmen's experience, they estimated it could withstand temperatures above three thousand degrees Celsius but below five thousand.
That might not seem like much, but once Armament Haki was added, the temperature the Flying Wheels could withstand would rise considerably.
If he could train them to the level of a Black Blade, even Charlotte Oven might not be able to do anything to them, no matter how hard he tried.
Gray controlled the magnetic field to keep Mountains and Seas behind him. Once the field started rotating, he didn't have to spare any thought on it. He only needed to control it instinctively, like breathing, and Mountains and Seas would follow him automatically.
Whether he was attacking or flying, it wouldn't interfere with his other actions.
Of course, if you were going to say it made it hard to get through a doorway, then never mind.
"Now, time for the official test!" Hovering in the air, Gray held his left hand behind his back and pointed forward with his right. One Flying Wheel detached itself from Mountains and Seas, and under Gray's control, it spun faster and faster.
At the same time, Gray drew out the Armament Haki inside his body and applied it to the Flying Wheel.
The red-and-black Flying Wheel was instantly covered in black. Yet a red glow showed through the darkness, making it look like a volcano on the verge of erupting.
"Magnetic Field Rotation: Five Thousand Horsepower!"
Gray went all out right from the start.
A dense web of electric sparks concealed the color of the Armament Haki coating. The Flying Wheel shot out in an instant, like a bolt of lightning.
Vmmm—
Spinning at extreme speed and moving through the air at high velocity, the Flying Wheel made the air vibrate.
Whoosh—
After the first Flying Wheel shot out, the second and third followed in turn.
Under Gray's control, the three Flying Wheels raced through the air within a hundred meters of him.
