Background / History

Great Xia’s modern martial institutions form the backbone of its resistance against the Abyss. Its four premier martial arts universities—Divine Martial University, Kunlun University, Civilization University, and Star Sea University—control extensive secret realms, equipment, techniques, and other strategic resources. Their surviving graduates are stated to reach at least the fourth rank of warrior. 8

The kingdom’s history is defined by warfare, sacrifice, and powerful martial artists. Zhang Daolin died fighting a King Realm lord after protecting an entire city from a tsunami, while Ye San was brought down by two Abyss Kings after rising through military service. 117 118 Fang Xinghe, the Nameless King, is remembered as Great Xia’s strongest Class-Transferred Warrior and one of humanity’s ten most radiant historical figures. 119

Great Xia’s political and military culture places national defense above all else. The military holds the greatest authority and resource allocation in the country, selecting graduates from major academies for service and expecting future generals to be forged through war. 301

Government and Power Structure

• Royal family — The kingdom is ruled under the Xia imperial line. Xia Jiuhuang acts as a public representative of the royal family when the Xia Emperor is absent. 404
• Ten Ministers Society — The core authority beneath the royal family. Its members include King Realm and quasi-King powerhouses, and it makes major decisions concerning national defense, honors, and strategic policy. 150 155
• Kings and Demigods — Great Xia’s highest martial powers bear the heaviest responsibility for national survival. Its three Demigods are Elder Feng, the Heavenly Monk, and a divine deer. 150 323
• King’s Domain — The elite district surrounding Divine Tai. Residence is restricted to those with immense military merit or King-rank strength, while major nobles, officials, and aristocratic families live at the mountain’s base. 279

Defense Against the Abyss

Great Xia maintains major defensive formations, military forces, and Kings stationed at Abyss entrances. When the Abyss broke its prior agreement and threatened open war, Beiming Xue ordered the recall of Kings from various Abysses and the preparation of national defenses. 323

The Imperial Capital’s defense against an S-rank Abyss included floating fortresses, anti-army weapons, defensive and offensive formations, and terrain reshaped for battle. 335 The expected beast-tide breach was delayed because Jiang Yuan fought alone within the Abyss, holding back mechanical Demonic Beasts and killing the quasi-King Overlord known as the Slaughterer. 335

Great Xia also maintains a strategic border formation constructed over a century. During the National Fortune War, it used this formation to prevent foreign refugees and infiltrators from crossing its borders amid regional Abyss disasters. A Great Xia King enforced the policy by killing an invading foreign Grandmaster and declaring, “Those who violate the border shall die.” 400

National Fortune War

Jiang Yuan led Great Xia’s National War team, consisting of Sikong, Yan Runan, Lin Qingyan, An Tianzong, and Chen Xi. 365 366 The team’s early undefeated run raised the kingdom’s national fortune by 10%, producing a nationwide rise in origin energy and making cultivation resources far more accessible. 400

Great Xia remained among the leading nations even after An Tianzong’s defeat ended its winning streak. Lin Qingyan, Sikong, and Yan Runan secured subsequent victories, while Zheng Huangtong eliminated a Tier 9 Overlord-class Demonic Beast that descended upon the kingdom. 402

Lin Qingyan ultimately won the elimination tournament for Great Xia by defeating Christina of Bear Country. The victory increased national fortune by a further 5%, granted every citizen ten additional years of lifespan, and caused spiritual energy to surge across the nation. 432

Internal Instability

Great Xia’s leadership is not fully unified. During the crisis precipitated by Abyss activity, some Ten Ministers blamed Jiang Yuan for accelerating the onset of war, while others argued for decisive military escalation against Abysses within Great Xia’s territory. 323

Veteran war generals Xie Linqi and Wang Weidong criticized powerful Imperial Capital factions for protecting their own interests rather than confronting the national crisis. They feared that Great Xia had lost the unity that once allowed it to endure national disasters. 335

The kingdom also faces infiltration from within. Fang Xinghe warned Jiang Yuan that a Great Xia King was a traitor; Lin Qingyan later stated that two Kings would betray Great Xia, while Bei Zhenyuan warned that a traitor was hidden within the Ten Ministers Society as well. 119 342 376

• Feng Xuan — King of Natural Disasters and one of Great Xia’s Demigods; defended Jiang Yuan against the Moon Demon Tree and declared that Great Xia would not fear war. 150
