If they had had more time, they could have pulled up a tent tarp, a crash net, or at least some sleeping bags and ground mats to cushion it.
But the incident had happened too suddenly. Like Shen Le, they could only strike particularly foolish poses, stretching out both hands as far as possible and using their arms and chests to catch it—only to watch helplessly as the enormous mural shrank and shrank, until it vanished completely—
If ordinary people had seen this, they would surely have cried out in alarm and perhaps even thrown themselves to the ground to feel around for fragments that might have fallen there.
However, everyone present was from the Special Affairs Bureau and had at least some understanding of unusual phenomena. After their brief shock, the captain made several quick hand signals, and the team members each went about their duties:
Some crept forward toward Shen Le, observing his complexion, breathing, and movements to determine immediately whether he was all right;
