A flash of sword light leaped out of the water curtain surrounding the Cloud Kun. In that instant, people on the Cloud Kun's deck, inside its cabins, aboard the large ship above, and on the two warships beside it all held their breath and focused their full attention:
"Radar signal not detected!"
"Radar signal not detected!"
"Switch bands to VHF. Scan altitude: 0–100 meters. Azimuth—activate ultra-low-speed MTD mode, set the velocity threshold to 30 m/s, enable clutter-map suppression!"
"IRST scanning in sync!"
"Switch transmission polarization to left-hand circular polarization; dual-polarization reception!"
Commands were issued in rapid succession. A low, slow, small flying object was known to be approaching from your direction—just over one meter long, no more than ten centimeters wide, no more than three centimeters thick, completely wrapped in ceramic, with an extremely low radar cross-section.
Come on, could they find it?
Find it. Search as hard as they could!
Radar operators had pride too!
Never mind the large ship overhead, which boasted, "Four balls overhead, I'm the best in the world," and believed it possessed the finest radar and electromagnetic detection technology on the planet:
Even the saber-bearing guard ship off to the side believed it was no worse than anyone else. It had to make an effort to scout things out, to see whether it could spot the flying swords—only to find that it couldn't!
Couldn't see them!
Still couldn't see them!
Quickly switch radar detection modes, quickly change frequency bands, quickly activate high-sensitivity Doppler processing, add infrared cooperative detection—the window left to them was this small. Visual observation, radar detection, infrared cooperation, sonar detection, the Temple Keeper of the Mazu Temple aboard the ship rapidly shaking her cup...
In short, every detection method that could be used was set in motion, all striving to find it.
