Background / History

Tang San grew up in Sacred Soul Village as Tang Hao's son. Before dawn each day, he secretly cultivated on a hill outside the village, practicing the Purple Demon Eye and Mysterious Heaven Skill. His unusual discipline and movement drew Tang Hao's suspicion after Tang Hao observed him meditating and moving with speed beyond that of an ordinary six-year-old. When confronted, Tang San insisted that he was Tang Hao's son, but Tang Hao left the village after their exchange, ending their father-son relationship and removing Tang San's protection as a Titled Douluo's child 2 3.

At his martial soul awakening, Tang San manifested Blue Silver Grass and was found to possess Full Innate Soul Power. Su Yuntao's report brought him to the attention of the Notting City Spirit Hall branch, whose high-ranking deacon invited him to join Spirit Hall. Encouraged by Old Jack, Tang San left Sacred Soul Village for Notting City with the deacon 6 9 10.

In Notting City, Tang San stayed with Deacon Ding Xiulun, who sought to make him his disciple. Tang San accepted Ding Xiulun's food, shelter, and instruction but repeatedly refused to formally apprentice himself. His curiosity about Yu Xiaogang grew after Ding Xiulun disparaged the Grandmaster; Tang San ultimately chose to remain with Ding Xiulun only until obtaining his first soul ring 11 16.

With Ding Xiulun's assistance, Tang San obtained a 200-year Solitary Bamboo as his first soul ring. He later entered Notting Academy, met Yu Xiaogang, and developed a close teacher-and-friend relationship with him, though he continued to avoid a formal master-disciple bond due to his earlier experience with Ding Xiulun 13 23 49.

After nearly three years, Tang San reached level 20. Yu Xiaogang guided him to absorb a roughly 350-year Mandala Snake as his second soul ring, giving Blue Silver Grass poisonous, paralyzing, and resilient qualities 48 49. By age twelve, he had reached level 27, graduated from Notting Academy, and decided to travel to Shrek Academy without Xiao Wu 55 56.

Tang San is highly disciplined, rising before dawn to cultivate even after Tang Hao abandons him. He remains composed under pressure, including when Tang Hao questions his identity, and approaches cultivation and soul-ring absorption with determination 2 9 13.

He is cautious and analytical, often assessing others' motives and status. His curiosity about Yu Xiaogang increases rather than diminishes after hearing criticism of the Grandmaster, while Ding Xiulun's repeated attempts to claim him as a disciple leave him resistant to formal apprenticeship 11 23 49.
