Ch. 181Water Reconstitution Healing

Yagami returned to the night of the previous full moon and chose Water Reconstitution Healing, then began preparing to stop the Mist Ninja ambush by investigating the leaked battle plans. He improved his squad’s Earth Flow Wall defenses with Kurozaru, leaving the squad with a stronger wall design to train.

  • Yagami chose Water Reconstitution Healing as his monthly draw reward and noted that his Chakra Quantity had grown to 4.4 times Jonin-level.
  • Yagami realized the Mist Ninja knew the Konoha battalions’ plans and decided to find the informant who had leaked them, while blaming Danzo for the betrayal.
  • Kurozaru asked Yagami how to keep Earth Flow Wall from breaking under Exploding Tags, and Yagami proposed testing reinforced designs with him.
  • Kurozaru made three Earth Flow Walls, and Flower Deer tested them with Exploding Tags; the wire-reinforced wall cracked but stayed standing, while the wall-column design also resisted collapse.
  • Yagami concluded that the squad should use trapezoidal Earth Flow Walls with wall columns and told the Earth Style ninja to adopt the improved design.

Ch. 182Arrangement

Yagami helped plan a backup ambush site and arranged covert Uchiha reinforcements after warning Uchiha Toka that the Kirigakure blade-seizure force might be stronger than expected. The operation remained secret, and Yagami still could not determine whether Butterfly posed a threat.

  • Yagami joined Yellow Dog and five Jonin to plan the ambush, but decided against secretly investigating Butterfly.
  • Yagami proposed a second ambush point, and the Jonin agreed to position their squads between both sites.
  • Uchiha Toka asked Yagami to train Uchiha Fugaku, and Yagami criticized Fugaku's lack of ruthlessness after defeating him in training.
  • Yagami told Uchiha Toka that Kirigakure might send a powerful force and urged him to secretly arrange reinforcements.
  • Uchiha Toka agreed to conceal six Special Jonin, while Yagami planned to report the arrangement to Yellow Dog discreetly.

Ch. 183Intuition

Yagami suspected Danzo might be behind a leak in the joint ambush plan, so he left early to watch the coast. After capturing two Root ninja, he learned that Danzo had ordered one to deliver the battle plan to Suikazan Fuguki.

  • Yagami warned Yellow Dog that the ambush plan might leak and urged him to prepare a departure that differed from the plan submitted to headquarters.
  • Yagami, Purple Cat, and White Ram left the camp in disguise, and Yagami arranged surveillance along the coast while preparing for the mission.
  • White Ram detected two masked ninja approaching the coast, and Yagami left Purple Cat and White Ram to guard the rear while he intercepted them.
  • Yagami used Water Severing Wave and Water Body Flicker to seize the two Root ninja, then killed them and brought their bodies to Purple Cat.
  • Purple Cat read one Root ninja’s memories and told Yagami that Danzo had ordered him to deliver a battle plan to Suikazan Fuguki.

Ch. 184Wandering Miko

Yagami posed as a Root ninja and gave Suikazan Fuguki a tampered battle plan, then learned the Mist Ninja sword-retrieval force’s roster. Suikazan shared the supposed Konoha ambush intelligence with his fellow Jonin, who planned to verify it before deciding whether to counter-ambush.

  • Yagami told Purple Cat to keep the corpses’ intelligence secret, then disguised himself as a Root ninja and sent White Ram to wait by the shore.
  • Yagami met Suikazan Fuguki and Yakushi Nonō, exchanged code words, and gave Fuguki a tampered plan describing a Konoha ambush by five squads.
  • After the meeting, Yagami asked Yakushi Nonō about the Mist Ninja sword-retrieval force, and she named Hozuki Murgetsu, Kushimaru Kuriarare, Suikazan Fuguki, and four other Jonin.
  • Suikazan told the other Jonin that Konoha would ambush them the night after tomorrow and proposed verifying the intelligence by searching for Mist Ninja killed with the Water Gun Technique.
  • Hozuki Murgetsu challenged Suikazan’s source, but Kushimaru Kuriarare urged them to verify the report and prioritize recovering Hiramekarei.

Ch. 185Counter-Ambush

Hozuki Murgetsu and Suikazan Fuguki used the forged intelligence to lead five Mist Ninja squads into Konoha’s counter-ambush. Yagami and Yellow Dog’s traps devastated one squad, and Yagami raced to support Konoha’s other forces as the battles continued around the hill.

  • Hozuki Murgetsu found four fresh Mist Ninja corpses, and Suikazan Fuguki ordered two squads to feign taking the bait while the others moved to counter-ambush Konoha.
  • Suikazan Fuguki assigned Mist Ninja squads to trap Konoha’s supposed positions around the hill, unaware that the intelligence scroll was fake.
  • Yellow Dog detonated more than a hundred Exploding Tags as the Mist Ninja entered Konoha’s encirclement, and Yagami and Yellow Dog followed with Water Release and Fire Style attacks.
  • Kushimaru Kuriarare’s Nuibari failed to pierce Yagami’s Copper Light, and the first Mist Ninja squad collapsed under the attacks.
  • Yellow Dog went south to support the Uchiha squads while Yagami went north, where he helped Gekko Sō’s force and sent Gekko Sō to support Yamashiro Tera.
  • Suikazan Fuguki narrowly dodged an enormous fireball on the south side and accused Wandering Miko of deceiving him.

Ch. 186War in the Shinobi World, Ever Thus

Yagami led the Fox Squadron through several battles against Mist Ninja, then joined Yamashiro Tera and Gekko Sō at the main battlefield. They surrounded Hozuki Murgetsu, who ordered a retreat, but Yagami blocked his escape.

  • Yagami killed the Mist Ninja Captain Commander and helped his squad eliminate the remaining Mist Ninja.
  • Yagami’s squad drove away the mist and helped Yamashiro Tera’s forces defeat another Mist Ninja squad, then set out for the main battlefield.
  • Yagami chose to target Hozuki Murgetsu instead of helping Captain Commander Yellow Dog fight Suikazan Fuguki.
  • Yagami, Yamashiro Tera, and Gekko Sō surrounded Hozuki Murgetsu, who called for a retreat.
  • Yagami blocked Hozuki Murgetsu’s escape and declared that he would not leave alive.

Ch. 187Great Victory

Yellow Dog’s unit won a major victory against the Mist Ninja, but Hozuki Murgetsu and Suikazan Fuguki escaped the ambush. Suikazan later claimed Samehada and reported Murgetsu dead, while Yagami worried that Danzo’s investigation would expose the damaged evidence against him.

  • Yagami’s sealing technique and Uchiha Toka’s Great Fireball wounded Hozuki Murgetsu, but he escaped underground while Suikazan Fuguki also got away from Yellow Dog.
  • Yellow Dog’s forces defeated the Mist Ninja battalions, killing four jonin and more than three hundred and thirty Mist Ninja.
  • Suikazan Fuguki killed the poisoned Hozuki Murgetsu with walrus Summoned Beasts, took Great Sword: Samehada, and planned to claim Konoha had killed Murgetsu.
  • Uchiha Zhong told Danzo that Murgetsu was dead and Yellow Dog’s ambush had succeeded, while Root’s Yi reported that two Root shinobi had been found dead.
  • Yagami saw Yi leaving the command tent and feared he would investigate the Root shinobi’s deaths, while White Ram realized their damaged corpses could not prove Danzo had leaked intelligence.

Ch. 188Why Did You Steal Yellow Dog's Line?

Yagami saw Danzo award Yellow Dog an S-rank Mission reward while denying the other participants the same recognition. Uchiha Zhong explained the Uchiha Clan’s need to endure Konoha’s hostility and predicted that the war would soon end, allowing the clan to return home.

  • Danzo praised Yellow Dog’s ambush victory and promised him an S-rank Mission reward, but refused to grant the other squad leaders and Fox the same rating.
  • Uchiha Toka apologized to Yamashiro Tera and Gekko Sō for the Uchiha Clan’s presence, and Yagami recognized Toka’s judgment.
  • Toka suggested Danzo’s hostility toward the Uchiha might come from guilt over Kagami’s death, but Uchiha Zhong stopped him and said the clan must compromise and endure.
  • Uchiha Zhong told Toka to focus on training Fugaku, explaining that the Uchiha’s history and precarious position in Konoha made patience essential.
  • Uchiha Zhong predicted the Land of Whirlpools war would soon end, citing negotiations in the Land of Earth, Orochimaru’s reputation, and the Yellow Dog Squad’s victory.

Ch. 189Intelligence Reconciliation

Yagami and White Ram tracked Root ninja Aburame Ryoma to the coast, where Yagami discovered Ren meeting with Yakushi Nonō. As Ren moved to take Nonō back to Root, Suikazan Fuguki appeared, interrupting Yagami’s attempt to intervene.

  • Yagami told Yellow Dog he planned to investigate the Hozuki Clan, and Yellow Dog celebrated the approaching end of the war and their expected promotions.
  • White Ram reported that Root had destroyed the bodies Yagami had meant to use as evidence, so Yagami ordered him to track Aburame Ryoma’s Kikaichū.
  • White Ram located Ryoma’s insects along the coast, and Yagami sent him away before continuing the investigation alone.
  • Yakushi Nonō explained to Ren that Root’s false battle plan had caused the Mist Ninja’s defeat, then learned from Ren that the Ren and Gui she had met were impostors.
  • Ren and Nonō identified Copper Fox and Rin Yamanaka as likely suspects, but Ren refused to let Nonō leave and ordered her back to Root.
  • Yagami watched from the sea as Ren’s Kikaichū surrounded Nonō, but Suikazan Fuguki arrived before Yagami could act.

Ch. 190Aburame Ryoma Must Die

Aburame Ryoma, disguised as Yi, tried to capture Yakushi Nonō, but Suikazan Fuguki attacked them and overwhelmed Ryoma’s insects with powerful Water Release. Ryoma escaped underwater, where Yagami ambushed and killed him, then set out to find Yakushi Nonō.

  • Suikazan Fuguki interrupted Yi’s attempt to capture Yakushi Nonō and attacked him with Great Sword: Samehada.
  • Yi used his Insect Clone and Secret Technique: Insect Tide Prison against Suikazan Fuguki, while Yakushi Nonō pretended to be badly injured.
  • Suikazan Fuguki crushed Yi’s insects with Great Exploding Water Wave and Hair Needle Seaweed, but Yi escaped using Water Louse Insects.
  • Yagami followed Yi underwater and killed him by crushing his heart, lung, and head.
  • Yagami sank Yi’s corpse in the deep sea and surfaced to meet the Wandering Miko.

Ch. 191Worthy of the Wandering Miko

Yagami tracked Yakushi Nonō’s false trail to a cliff, then realized Chinri might know her whereabouts and rushed to find her. He arrived just as Nonō reunited with Chinri in disguise, and restrained her before Chinri could stop him.

  • Yagami found fabric from Nonō’s clothing and sent White Ram’s Kikaichū to track its scent.
  • Yagami and White Ram followed the scent to a cliff, where they discovered Nonō had used a seabird to plant a false clue.
  • Yagami remembered Chinri’s connection to the orphanage and learned that her squad had gone on patrol along the coast.
  • Chinri’s squad entered a fishing village, where poisoned fish soup knocked out her three genin teammates.
  • Nonō revealed herself to Chinri and gave her a scroll of money and ninjutsu, but said she could not return to the orphanage.
  • Yagami burst between Chinri and Nonō, restrained Nonō with the Self-Exerting Curse Binding Seal, and raised his fist as Chinri pleaded with him to stop.

Ch. 192Cursed Tongue Eradication Seal

Yagami confronted Yakushi Nonō over her betrayal of Konoha, but Chinri intervened and saved her from being killed. Nonō traded the location of Danzo’s Uzumaki research base for her life, leaving Yagami planning to investigate it.

  • Chinri took Yagami’s blow while protecting Yakushi Nonō and pleaded with him to spare her, so Yagami knocked Chinri unconscious instead of killing her.
  • Yakushi Nonō broke Yagami’s sealing technique and stopped his next attack by mentioning the Cursed Tongue Eradication Seal.
  • Nonō revealed that Danzo had a secret Uzumaki sealing research base in the Land of Whirlpools and offered its location in exchange for her life.
  • Yagami threatened Nonō but agreed to cooperate, and she gave him the base’s location twenty kilometers southeast of the capital.
  • Nonō treated Chinri’s injuries and left the fishing village, while Yagami departed using the Body Flicker Technique and considered summoning Uzumaki Yuka to help investigate the base.

Ch. 193The Ill-Fated Girl and the Two Tomoe

Yagami and Uzumaki Yuka infiltrated a hidden Root laboratory to rescue the Land of Whirlpools Daimyo’s Guardian Ninja, only to find most of them dead or mutilated. Yuka reunited with her dying father and learned that Root had failed to obtain three key sealing techniques; as he died, Yagami awakened a Two Tomoe Sharingan.

  • Yagami summoned Uzumaki Yuka and told her that Shimura Danzō had imprisoned the Guardian Ninja in a cave, so they went to investigate.
  • Yuka exposed the cave’s false entrance and used an Invisible Lizard to help them enter past the guards.
  • Yagami and Yuka killed the researchers and discovered that most of the Guardian Ninja had been killed, while three survivors remained.
  • Yagami brought Yuka to her dying father, who told her that Root had not obtained the Four Symbols Seal, Adamantine Sealing Chains, or Cursed Tongue Eradication Seal before he died.
  • Yagami comforted Yuka, and his Sharingan awakened into Two Tomoe.

Ch. 194A Capable Subordinate

After rescuing Uzumaki Yuka and two Uzumaki Jonin from Root’s destroyed base, Yagami returned to the war camp and told Yellow Dog that Suikazan Fuguki had likely killed Root’s Yi. Danzo learned that his secret operation had been exposed and blamed Yellow Dog for ruining his plans.

  • Uzumaki Yuka took the research scrolls, and Yagami destroyed the experimental materials and buried the cave.
  • Yagami and Uzumaki Yuka parted after Bai Ci reverse summoned Yuka and the two unconscious Uzumaki Jonin to the Land of Rain.
  • Yagami told Yellow Dog that he had seen Suikazan Fuguki kill a Konoha ninja he identified as Root’s Yi.
