Devouring Life Gold

"Yi Yi, try absorbing it." Jing Chen picked Yi Yi up and held it in his arms, signaling for it to use its tail to absorb it.

Yi Yi lay there lazily, slowly extending its tail toward the Life Gold. Once the Evil God Hook made contact, it began trying to devour it.

Jing Chen watched intently while asking Yi Yi how it felt.

After letting Yi Yi devour it for several dozen seconds, Jing Chen had it stop. He had roughly figured out the effects of its devouring the Life Gold.

Yi Yi was certainly far better than him at absorbing life force, but its utilization rate for the absorbed life force was not particularly high either.

"Absorbing it directly like this feels a bit wasteful." Jing Chen looked at the Life Gold in his hand and fell into thought.

"If I could use the Life Gold as a foundation to form some kind of energy conversion within the body..."

Jing Chen pondered for a long time over how to use the Life Gold. In the end, he still decided to swallow and refine it.

Absorbing it directly for healing had too low an efficiency. Using it as a carving knife was far too wasteful, while using instruments to try to stimulate its energy was not very realistic.

The Life Gold that had fallen from the Golden Tortoise's body did not actually have any mucus or anything like that on it. It was very clean, completely spotless.

But due to his psychological aversion, Jing Chen still repeatedly washed it with water before he could accept swallowing it.

"Yi Yi, after swallowing it, try circulating the energy in your body to refine it. Let its life force merge with your bones and flesh."

Jing Chen handed the mung-bean-sized piece to Yi Yi and kept the other for himself, intending to try it together with Yi Yi.

Yi Yi held the mung-bean-sized piece of Life Gold in its little paws and nodded obediently, indicating that it understood.

Jing Chen did not say anything more. He stared at the Life Gold in his hand for a moment, took a deep breath, and swallowed it directly.

Yi Yi did the same, swallowing the Life Gold in its paws. It even smacked its lips, finding it too small to feel like it had eaten anything.

At first, there was no unusual sensation after swallowing the metal, but soon a burning feeling spread through Jing Chen's abdomen.

Jing Chen hurriedly sat cross-legged and began circulating the Soul Power within his body, directing it primarily through his abdomen as he tried to refine the metal.

Over the years, he had become quite proficient in the use of Soul Power and knew how to control the Soul Power within his body.

The Life Gold released a suction force and began drawing away his life force, while he circulated his Soul Power with all his strength to stop it.

Because he had swallowed only a small amount, the suction force contained within the Life Gold was not strong, and he could still handle it.

In this struggle, Jing Chen gained the upper hand. While preventing the loss of his life force, he was also refining the metal.

The process was rather slow, but it went fairly smoothly. At the very least, his life force was not being devoured instead.

Yi Yi's situation was far better than Jing Chen's. After swallowing the Life Gold, it refined it very quickly.

This mung-bean-sized piece of Life Gold posed no threat to Yi Yi, and it refined it with ease.

Following Jing Chen's instructions, it merged the energy with its bones and flesh, though the effect was not very noticeable.

Yi Yi wanted more, but seeing Jing Chen working hard to absorb his share, it did not make a sound. It quietly lay beside Jing Chen and waited.

More than an hour later, Jing Chen refined the quarter-mung-bean-sized piece of Life Gold.

After refining it, he felt exceptionally comfortable, like someone who had not bathed in a long time suddenly taking a hot shower. That refreshing sensation was beyond description.

"There's no change in my physical strength." Jing Chen squeezed the muscles in his arm and examined them carefully, finding no difference from before.

After thinking for a while, he cut a small wound into his arm and carefully sensed the changes.

The change was very slight, but he still noticed it. His cellular activity had increased somewhat.

Jing Chen smiled and controlled the Life Gold to float upward, leaving it suspended in midair.

As the master of the Time and Space Divine Tower, he could freely control the space within it and make objects hover in the air without falling.

After placing the Life Gold in the air, he took Yi Yi out of the Time and Space Divine Tower, planning to leave the Star Dou Great Forest first.

After coming out, Jing Chen briefly checked their direction before riding Yi Yi onward at high speed.

They had not gone far when they encountered a Ten-Thousand-Year Soul Beast. The moment it saw them, it let out a loud roar.

"Yi Yi, ignore it. Run as fast as you can," Jing Chen said, stopping Yi Yi from attacking.

That Soul Beast's roar was very likely some kind of special signal. It might have been calling for reinforcements.

Staying here any longer would definitely not be good for them. It was better to leave quickly.

Yi Yi used its wind-element abilities and sprinted at full speed, nimbly weaving left and right through the trees.
