"Fellow Daoist, please place your hand here."
The old man still watched Ye Lin with a measure of wariness.
He then took out a Compass and placed it before Ye Lin.
Though Ye Lin was somewhat puzzled, he still placed his right hand on it.
The instant his palm touched the Compass, green light bloomed across its surface.
Only after a moment did the old man put away the Compass, the wariness in his eyes vanishing without a trace.
"Fellow Daoist, that was merely to test whether you are human."
"Please forgive me."
As if he had noticed Ye Lin's confusion, the old man explained with a smile.
Ye Lin merely nodded slightly.
The warship below began moving slowly once more.
This was a commercial warship, used to transport goods.
Ye Lin had already spotted heaps upon heaps of large crates on the distant deck.
The people on deck kept sweeping their eyes over their surroundings.
As though they were on guard against something.
"Where did Fellow Daoist come from? Why are you traveling alone through this man-eating starry sky?"
With a chuckle, the old man brought over two stools. After handing one to Ye Lin, he sat down and asked.
"I am merely a Rogue Cultivator. I happened to emerge from seclusion and came out to travel."
Facing the old man's question, Ye Lin casually made up a plausible excuse.
"I see. Fellow Daoist is quite bold."
"Our destination on this journey is the Cloud Sea Star Region. This is a star chart; we will pass through several star regions along the way. Take a look."
"Are you heading to the Cloud Sea Star Region, or will you get off somewhere in between?"
The old man took out a scroll and handed it to Ye Lin as he spoke.
