"Three."
The countdown began. The young man picked up the gold ingot from the ground and began examining it.
Yet no matter how he looked at it or tested it, the thing was exactly like the real deal.
But... but...
No matter how rich this person was, he couldn't just scatter gold ingots around so casually.
It made no sense.
"Two."
As the second count fell, the young man grew even more flustered.
Though he had no idea what he was afraid of, the moment he heard Ye Lin speak, panic rose in him uncontrollably.
"One."
As the final word fell, the gold ingot in the young man's hand crashed heavily to the ground.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Did the demon-hunting squad catch the wrong person? Or are you planning to frame a good man? Charging into the auction house so aggressively and even sealing off the entire place—you're certainly putting on quite the show."
"Indeed, what a show. Using demon hunting as an excuse to come here and throw their weight around. People like them need to be taught a lesson."
"Judging by this young master's bearing, the demon-hunting squad has probably provoked the wrong person this time. They've kicked an iron plate."
"Most likely. They're in for it now."
Gloating voices rang out from all around. Everyone wanted to see how Ye Lin would deal with this fellow.
"Hmph, consider yourself lucky this time."
"But boy, remember this—I'll be watching you. I hope you don't reveal even the slightest flaw."
With that, the young man turned around smugly, preparing to leave.
But after walking a few steps, he discovered that he could no longer move.
Looking down, he found himself standing in midair.
His two legs simply flailed endlessly through the empty air.
"Did I say you could leave?"
