Ye Lin continued onward. The narrow path began to slope upward, gradually turning into a mountain trail.
Along both sides of the trail, a stone pillar stood every few dozen zhang, each carved with the totem of the Heaven-Devouring Toad Clan.
A seven-colored toad sat cross-legged, its eyes half-closed and its expression serene, seven-colored radiance swirling around it.
After walking for about the time it took to brew a cup of tea, the mountain trail reached a platform.
The platform was not large, only several zhang square. Its ground was paved with smooth bluestone slabs, and a small pavilion stood at its edge.
The pavilion was made of wood, ancient and elegant. Inside sat a stone table and two stone chairs.
A tea set rested on the stone table, with an open book beside it, as though someone had only just been here drinking tea and reading.
Ye Lin walked to the edge of the platform and looked out.
The sight before him made him stop in his tracks.
Beyond the platform lay a vast, open gorge.
On either side of the gorge rose steep cliff faces, likewise covered in seven-colored moss that dyed the entire gorge in brilliant hues.
At the bottom of the gorge ran a broad river.
The water was so clear that its bottom could be seen, tinged a faint blue. Like a blue ribbon, it wound its way through the seven-colored gorge.
A rainbow bridge stretched across the river.
That rainbow bridge had not been built by human hands, but condensed from a true rainbow.
The light of seven colors intertwined to form an arched bridge spanning the gorge and linking the cliffs on either side.
The bridge was dozens of zhang wide, enough for more than ten people to walk abreast.
Seven-colored light flowed
