As they walked, Long Aotian's figure emerged amid a blue glow.
He stood at the end of the fissure, utterly motionless.
"What is it?"
Ye Lin walked up beside him with a puzzled look and raised his head.
Then, he was stunned once more.
Beyond the fissure lay an enormous expanse.
How enormous was it?
So enormous that no ceiling could be seen overhead—only a profound darkness, where points of light occasionally flickered, like stars, or perhaps the eyes of something.
So enormous that no boundary could be seen ahead—only a boundless void, within which countless massive objects floated.
Some resembled islands, some mountain peaks, some palaces, some statues, and some things that could not be named at all.
So enormous that no ground could be seen beneath their feet—only another boundless void, where the faint traces of rivers could be glimpsed.
They were real rivers, formed from some kind of glowing liquid. They wound through the void, flowing from unknown places toward unknown destinations.
This was an independent world.
A world sealed within these ruins, one that had existed for who knew how many ages.
Ye Lin's gaze swept across the void before him.
The first thing he saw was the floating islands.
Every island was astonishingly vast; even the smallest spanned tens of thousands of li.
The islands came in all kinds of shapes. Some were perfect circles, like gigantic plates.
Some were irregular polygons, as though something had taken a bite out of them.
Some were spiral-shaped, like whirling vortices frozen in midair.
Buildings covered the islands.
Their style was unlike anything he had ever seen.
It was not the style of the Eastern Region, nor the Western Region, nor the Northern Region—nor even the style of this era.
They seemed more like... products of another age.
