Optical Camouflage technology.

Even without recovering the Yautja's equipment, the Hive and the company's other divisions had already begun researching this technology.

And they had made decent progress, though they still hadn't found solutions to a few key problems.

With actual Yautja equipment on hand, those key obstacles were easily overcome.

The company had actually launched a project related to the Plasma Cannon's plasma technology.

But progress had been quite poor, and the funding it consumed far exceeded that of the electromagnetic cannon being developed at the same time. In the end, the company's executives had buried the project.

Now, with the Yautja's Shoulder Cannon as a foundation, the Hive was able to replicate a somewhat crude version of it thanks to Wang Zhaofeng's team. They were even preparing to develop derivative models of the Plasma Cannon.

The Hive's replicated Shoulder Cannon had three firing modes: low, medium, and high power.

Since Wang Zhaofeng's team couldn't yet reverse-engineer the Yautja Clan's micro-fusion technology, they had to use Hydrogen Batteries as a substitute.

Each shot from the Plasma Cannon at maximum power consumed the entire charge of one Hydrogen Battery.

At low power, one battery could provide twelve shots; at medium power, three.

In other words, if the Shoulder Cannon were mounted on a Mechanical Exoskeleton and used repeatedly, the Exoskeleton would run out of power.

There were solutions, of course.

The simplest, and the most feasible for the company at present, was to install several extra Hydrogen Batteries.

But each Hydrogen Battery cost $70,000 to manufacture, and recharging one cost $3,000 each time. That didn't even include the production cost of the Shoulder Cannon.

So, equipping large numbers of troops with Shoulder Cannons wasn't practical at the moment. They could only be issued on a small scale to elite forces.
