As soon as they finished speaking, the screen displayed close-ups of the victims' wounds.
One male victim's thigh had been violently severed. The stump looked like shattered glass or porcelain, jagged and angular.
The human blood inside the wound had been replaced by some kind of thick black liquid, and the bone looked as if it had been broken porcelain.
This strange transformation had occurred only near the wounds. The rest of the victims' bodies remained normal.
"Officer Kennedy... Is there any substance in the world that can turn people into porcelain?" Brea asked, perplexed.
As soon as the coroner submitted the autopsy report, the chief of the Venice police department realized the truth had to be kept under wraps. Only a handful of people knew the details.
But everyone who knew, including the coroner, was baffled. What could have caused wounds like these?
Leon shook his head slightly.
He knew this had to be the work of an anomalous phenomenon, but he had no idea what it was. They would have to investigate.
"Are there any surveillance recordings or eyewitnesses?" Leon asked.
Brea shook his head as well. "We haven't found any eyewitnesses so far, and every crime scene is in a blind spot for the cameras, so we haven't captured any useful footage either.
"To put it bluntly, what you've just seen is everything we've found in the past few days."
Brea's tone grew rather helpless as he finished.
"Hmm... I understand." Leon murmured, then stood and headed for the conference room exit.
"Could you take me to see the victims' bodies?"
"No problem." Brea had no reason to refuse.
