Ch. 264The Elite's Confusion

Sui Bian visited the captured Covenant forces and spoke privately with their commander, Moor, about the Prophets and their pilgrimage. After stopping an Elite ambush with his Psionic Power, he led the prisoners out to show them what humans and gods were.

  • Sui Bian arrived at the camp and praised John, Gabriel, and the paratrooper lieutenant for their role in the battle.
  • Sui Bian and his companions entered the warehouse holding the captured Elites, Gnolls, Unggoy, and Engineer.
  • Sui Bian spoke to Moor through their souls and learned that the Prophets had branded humanity as Heretics while pursuing a pilgrimage to find the gods' relics.
  • Sui Bian ordered the cell opened, then used Psionic Power to stop a group of Elites from ambushing him and the Queens.
  • Moor told the other Elites to cooperate and followed Sui Bian, hoping the human leader could help him find answers about his god.

Ch. 265Glory and Faith Trampled Without Mercy

Lara and John activated a Forerunner ruin on Harvest, revealing a star chart and evidence that the Prophets had sent a reconnaissance fleet after the Messrine ruins were opened. Sui Bian persuaded Moor and the Elites that the Forerunners had been mortal beings and the Prophets had lied about the Great Journey, leaving Moor to seek freedom and a warship so he could warn his people.

  • Lara opened the ruin and led Sui Bian, the Elites, and the others inside, where John activated its core and revealed a three-dimensional star chart.
  • The Red Queen reported that the chart marked the Messrine system and another star system, and that the Prophets might have sent a reconnaissance fleet after the Messrine ruins were activated.
  • Sui Bian challenged the Elites' beliefs, arguing that the Forerunners had been an advanced species that was wiped out and that the Prophets had lied to preserve their power.
  • Moor and the Elites roared in anger after concluding that the Prophets had used their faith and sacrifices, then Moor asked what had destroyed the Forerunners and why humans could access their ruins.
  • Moor requested freedom and a warship to confront the Prophets and warn the Sangheili, and Sui Bian agreed to let half the Elites leave with a ship after its weapons were removed.

Ch. 266Public Response and the Primarch Commanders of the Five Combined Fleets

Sui Bian explained why he wanted to undermine the Covenant from within and ordered preparations for the fleet’s next move. A public press conference then revealed the Primarchs and Astartes to humanity and announced five combined fleets would strike back at the Covenant.

  • Sui Bian told White Queen that he wanted to disrupt the Covenant internally and defeat it quickly while minimizing human casualties, and he discussed possible alien allies with John and Lion.
  • Sui Bian ordered Red Queen to prepare for the Gryphon’s arrival at Harvest and have Engineers unload the captured ship, while Sherry and Laura remained to study the ruins.
  • A history teacher’s lesson was interrupted by an order to watch a government press conference, which showed Admiral James Cutter announcing the Covenant’s declaration of war and humanity’s five combined fleets.
  • Sui Bian introduced the Astartes and the ten Primarchs, then showed archival footage of humanity’s earlier battle against the Colonizers.
  • Sui Bian declared that humanity would rely on itself, the Primarchs vowed that humanity would prevail, and Robert was selected to speak for the Primarchs.

Ch. 269Release the Clearers and "Philanthropy"

On Harvest, Sui Bian’s forces prepared a five-Legion counteroffensive while the Sangheili captain Moor departed to help end the war against the Covenant Empire. Sui Bian sent Lion and Magnus to investigate the Forerunner-marked Corinth System and warned them about the Flood, as the chapter revealed the Covenant’s vast fleet and its capital, High Charity.

  • Teacher Yi reminded her students to focus on their studies, while Wilhelm was assigned to copy key points thirty times.
  • Civilians in Aldega cheered the Marines, Auxilia, and Astartes as a massive human fleet gathered at Harvest for the counteroffensive.
  • Moor thanked Sui Bian and departed with his Sangheili to awaken more of their people and oppose the Prophets’ ambitions.
  • Russ, Robert, Roger, and Angron joked together before the Primarchs prepared to lead their respective Legions into battle.
  • Sui Bian ordered Lion and Magnus to investigate the Corinth System and warned them that Forerunner relics there might expose them to the Flood.
  • The chapter revealed a Covenant fleet of at least four thousand major warships, centered around its capital, High Charity.

Ch. 270Jeers, the Council, and the Heretic Traitors

Moor returned to High Charity with his surviving Elites and demanded to address the High Council, while Jiralhanae commanders and Covenant citizens mocked them as traitors. Before the council, Moor accused the Prophets of betraying their people and claimed his armor held evidence that humanity was authorized to open Forerunner ruins.

  • A Jiralhanae commander threatened Moor and his crew, but Councilor Farem intervened and granted Moor a hearing before the High Council.
  • Moor noticed that Jiralhanae-led fleets had displaced most Elite forces in the Combined Fleet and secretly ordered Losko to deliver evidence of the Prophets’ deception to Ataswatu and Telvadami.
  • Glory guards searched Moor’s cruisers, disarmed his delegation, and escorted them through High Charity’s residential district as residents jeered.
  • The Prophet of Truth accused Moor of betraying the faith, while the Prophet councilors echoed the charge and the Elite councilors remained silent.
  • Moor denied that humans had defeated his forces, then accused the Prophets of obstructing the pilgrimage and declared that his armor contained evidence of humanity’s authorization to open the ruins.

Ch. 271Civil Strife and Humanity's Technological Power Claw

Moor’s evidence of the Prophets’ deception deepened the rift between the Prophets and the Sangheili, but the Hierarchs imprisoned him and began a purge. As Vadamee, Atas, and Losko fought to escape the attack on the Elite district, an unseen human Power Claw appeared and cut down a Jiralhanae.

  • Moor argued that humans could open Forerunner ruins and offered evidence, but Prophet of Truth ordered him and his subordinates imprisoned and condemned them to execution.
  • Prophet of Truth, Prophet of Regret, and Prophet of Mercy agreed to use the Jiralhanae to purge the Sangheili and other councilors in High Charity.
  • Losko showed Vadamee and Atas the footage from Moor’s helmet, and Vadamee urged them to warn and evacuate the Sangheili while Atas insisted they rescue Moor.
  • Jiralhanae and other Covenant forces attacked the Elite residential district, killing unarmed Sangheili and forcing Vadamee, Atas, and Losko into battle.
  • Atas killed a Jiralhanae with charged Plasma Pistol shots, then a glowing human Power Claw appeared and sliced apart another attacker.

Ch. 272Shadows, Blonde Hair, and "Infiltration"

More than three hundred Shadows and the Elites fought the Jiralhanae-led purge on High Charity, while the Hierarchs’ coup triggered resistance across the Covenant Empire and heavy losses for the Elite fleet. Nova’s Ghost Operatives killed the guards in a central control center and reunited with the supposedly executed Moor, leaving Captain Linmir to take over as the purge spread.

  • A Shadow revealed himself to Atas and slaughtered Covenant troops, crushing a Scarab tank and driving the Unggoy and Gnolls to flee.
  • Losko explained the Astartes’ strength to Atas and Vadamee as more than three hundred Shadows joined the Elites in battle, using heavy weapons and acid grenades against Covenant forces.
  • Atas led an assault with a Gravity Hammer while Vadamee organized the Elites, and the Hierarchs’ purge spread through High Charity and the Covenant’s border systems as the Elite fleet fought to escape.
  • Nova and five Ghost Operatives killed Jiralhanae patrols and reached High Charity’s control center, where they were joined by Moor and more than thirty subordinates.
  • Nova told Captain Linmir that the rest was up to him, and the chapter revealed that Umbrella’s forces had infiltrated High Charity after traveling from Harvest with Corax and the Shadows.

Ch. 273The Primarch and the War Were Only Just Beginning... Ah

Corax and Nova seized High Charity, killed two Hierarchs, and captured Prophet of Mercy as the city entered the Warp Rift. Sui Bian learned that High Charity had fallen and that the Covenant Empire was vulnerable, while Corax and Nova headed toward Harvest.

  • Corax landed in the Hanging Gardens, slaughtered Tartarus and the Jiralhanae Honor Guards, killed Prophets of Truth and Regret, and left Prophet of Mercy for Nova's operatives to take.
  • Corax went back into the fighting, destroying a Covenant Empire tank as he returned to the streets of High Charity.
  • The Jiralhanae Combined Fleet watched High Charity pass through a vast storm vortex into the Warp Rift.
  • Nova asked Moor to contact Harvest while the operatives took custody of Prophet of Mercy.
  • Red Queen told Sui Bian that Nova and Corax were expected to reach Harvest in fifteen hours and that the Covenant Empire had lost its three Hierarchs and councilors.

Ch. 274"Set Out!" The Void and Hunger

Sui Bian sent Umbrella’s fleets to crush the Covenant Empire and dispatched Lion and Magnus to investigate a mysterious dwarf planet in the Corinth System. After Magnus sensed a force of nothingness and hunger there, the Teutonic Knight identified the remaining Sangheili and Jiralhanae ships and joined the battle to aid the Sangheili.

  • Sui Bian briefed his five Primarch sons, drew the Sword of Governance, and ordered them to set out against the weakened Covenant Empire.
  • More than twelve hundred ships entered the Warp Rift, while Sui Bian directed Lion and Magnus to travel to the Corinth System and warned them to watch their backs.
  • The Teutonic Knight reached the Corinth System, where its crew found Covenant wreckage and an ongoing battle around the second-orbit dwarf planet.
  • Lion approved Magnus’s request to jump directly to the planet, where Magnus sensed nothingness, endless hunger, and an unknown presence.
  • Magnus scanned the planet and nearby ships, then the Teutonic Knight marked the Sangheili and Jiralhanae vessels and joined the fighting to support the Sangheili.

Ch. 275Allies, Shield Worlds, and "Elites"

Magnus and Lion learned from Volsa Vokamee that the Covenant was fighting over a Forerunner Shield World in the Corinth System, where a mysterious weapon had unleashed ravenous creatures. They headed toward the equatorial entrance, while Covenant forces at a military base were attacked by a mutated, corpse-like creature.

  • Technicians inspected the Covenant survivors aboard the Teutonic Knight as Magnus and Lion discussed the hidden dangers inside the Shield World.
  • Volsa Vokamee told Magnus and Lion how the Covenant discovered the Shield World, entered it after the Messrine ruins opened, and became embroiled in a civil war that spread to the system.
  • Magnus declined Volsa's request to join the landing party, and Lion relayed the information to the Red Queen and their father.
  • The Teutonic Knight positioned itself above the Shield World, then sent a transport craft and four Viking fighters toward the equatorial entrance.
  • At a Covenant base near the entrance, panicked soldiers fled from a mutated creature that charged into their ranks and withstood concentrated fire before falling.

Ch. 276Floodwaters and the Restraint of Psychic Power

Magnus and Lion discovered that the Jiralhanae had released the Flood on the Shield World and followed Sui Bian’s orders to seek Forerunner technology before destroying it. They reached the Shield World’s central Pyramid and fought their way inside, where the Flood resisted Magnus’s Psionic barrier.

  • The Flood overran the Covenant base, infecting its defenders and turning their corpses into more forms.
  • Magnus identified the creatures as the Flood and ordered the pilots to stop firing and continue toward Hollow Earth.
  • Sui Bian ordered Magnus and Lion to recover Forerunner records, technology, or weapons, then destroy the Shield World’s core.
  • Magnus and Lion entered Hollow Earth, saw the Flood’s spreading infestation, and located a Pyramid that Magnus suspected was its origin or the Shield World’s control facility.
  • The Honor Guard cleared a landing zone by the Pyramid, and Magnus protected the group with a Psionic barrier as they advanced into the facility under Flood attack.

Ch. 277Thousand-Eyed, Reclaimer, Custodian

Lion and Magnus fought through the Flood-infested Shield World 0314, recovered its stored data, and escaped with the Memory Storage Unit. Aboard the Teutonic Knight, Lion ordered the unit to begin the Artificial Star’s overload sequence.

  • Magnus cleared the Pyramid’s lower level with a sea of fire as Lion and the Honor Guard fought through the Flood.
  • The group encountered an immature Gravemind, which offered cooperation before the Honor Guard destroyed its body and Magnus burned away the surrounding Flood.
  • Lion opened the sealed door to the Pyramid’s core, where a Memory Storage Unit identified the group as Reclaimers and confirmed it held the Custodian’s data and could overload the Artificial Star.
  • Lion took the data sphere, and the group escaped the Pyramid aboard a Large Transport Craft while Magnus and the flight squadron cleared a landing zone.
  • After decontamination aboard the Teutonic Knight, Lion ordered the Memory Storage Unit to execute the Artificial Star’s overload sequence.

Ch. 278Artificial Overload and Collapse

The Artificial Star destroyed the Flood and Shield World, while human and Elite forces pushed into Covenant territory after defeating its fleets. Sui Bian ordered propaganda and military preparations to hasten the Covenant Empire’s collapse, then reviewed footage from Lion and Magnus that ended on a Memory Storage Unit.

  • The Artificial Star expanded and exploded, annihilating the Flood and the Shield World before the Teutonic Knight departed for Harvest.
  • Human and Elite forces captured a colony city as Robert and Jacob Keyes coordinated the assault and planned to request reinforcements.
  • Sui Bian ordered Prophet of Mercy’s testimony broadcast across the Covenant Empire to undermine its faith in the Hierarchs.
  • Sui Bian directed the public reveal of the Sangheili and Yautja, ordered reservists sent to occupied territory, and told Robert and John to limit their advance to nearby systems.
  • Sui Bian checked the Teutonic Knight’s arrival time and opened footage from Lion and Magnus, pausing on a Memory Storage Unit inside the Pyramid facility.

Ch. 279"Qiumin" Empire

Sui Bian learned from the Shield World's Memory Storage Unit that its creators were the Qiumin, a species also known as Administrators, whose history differed from the Forerunners he remembered. The chapter left the origins and fall of their empire beginning to unfold, as the Unit explained how conquest gave way to a new philosophy.

  • A Raccoon City mother switched off a broadcast about the Sangheili and took her enthusiastic son out, troubled by his dream of joining the navy.
  • Lion and Magnus returned to the Anthem of Courage with the Memory Storage Unit, and Sui Bian sent them to Harvest to negotiate with their allies and strengthen their atheism.
  • Sui Bian ordered the Red and White Queens to help researchers study the Memory Storage Unit, which identified them as traitors under its code.
  • The Memory Storage Unit introduced herself as a likeness of Aria Hongtu Jingmo, Shield World 0314's deceased Administrator, and began answering Sui Bian's questions.
  • The Unit explained that her species called themselves the Qiumin or Administrators, who conquered the Galaxy and founded the Qiumin Empire before a new ideal of protecting life led to civil war and the empire's end.

Ch. 280Warp Storm and "Halo"

The Storage Unit explained how the Custodians’ attempt to contain the Warp Storm and save life led their radical kin to turn the vaccine into the Flood, while the Rationalist Faction prepared the Ark and Halos. It left Sui Bian learning that the Custodians activated the Halo Array to destroy advanced life and give the Galaxy a chance to recover.

  • The Storage Unit recounted how the Warp Storm corrupted civilizations and the Custodians concluded that emotions reflected into the Warp, creating demons and gods.
  • The Custodians rebuilt the Qiumin Empire, fought corrupted forces, and developed a symbiotic parasite intended to shield intelligent life from the Warp.
  • After the Chaos Gods corrupted their allies and drove them into despair, most Custodians turned the vaccine into the Flood, and Chimo took command of the main fleet.
  • The Rationalist Faction on Qila planned to use the Ark and six Halos to destroy the Flood and weaken the Warp, while preserving Custodians in Shield Worlds to guide future humanity.
  • When the Chaos Gods threatened their plan, Aria Hongtu Jingmo and the other Custodians locked down the Shield Worlds, and the Rationalist Faction activated the Halos to eliminate advanced life.

Ch. 281Torch Father's Will, Extinguish the Demons

Sui Bian received the Custodians’ approval to learn their advanced technology and prepared to pursue demons while investigating new vaccine data. On Titan, Artemis trained newly adult Astartes, who declared their duty was to extinguish demons.

  • Sui Bian learned that the Custodians had destroyed the Ark and Halos, and that the Memory Storage Unit held coordinates for Shield World 0314 and incomplete Flood data.
  • The Memory Storage Unit judged humanity worthy of the Custodians’ teachings and offered knowledge of artificial stars and celestial construction.
  • Sui Bian ordered a research exchange and arranged for the Plague Doctor to travel to Raccoon City, then vowed to hunt demons and increase his strength.
  • Artemis left her home on Titan and traveled by maglev train to the Grey Knights and Ghost Operatives training base.
  • Artemis asked twenty newly adult Astartes about their duty, and they answered, “Torch Father's Will” and “Extinguish the Demons.”

Ch. 282The Daily Life of Astartes and God Bodies

Artemis oversaw Grey Knights training and learned that the Supervision Department would soon hunt low- and medium-threat daemons, while Sui Bian’s forces concluded their counteroffensive against the Covenant Empire. The chapter ended with John and Sanguinius leading an assault on Covenant supercarriers as Thunderhawks boarded them.

  • Artemis completed the newcomers’ oath ceremony and watched the Divine Servants take them away for training.
  • Artemis corrected the Grey Knights during combat drills, then received Sui Bian’s orders to prepare for daemon hunts and learned that three Stealth-class warships would soon arrive at Titan.
  • At the Hive, researchers questioned the recovered Memory Storage Unit while Sui Bian watched with his staff and security personnel.
  • Robert and John’s fleets shifted from territorial expansion to guerrilla strikes, and the Primarchs ambushed a Covenant loyalist fleet near a planet resembling an arsenal.
  • Sanguinius protected the formation with a golden Psionic barrier while he and John destroyed defenses around sixteen supercarriers, allowing Thunderhawks to board and plunder the ships.

Ch. 283Vaccines and Hell

Humanity defeated the Covenant fleet, planned its expanding frontier, and began developing a vaccine against Warp infection. In Hell, D-1999 destroyed the last Pillar God and watched the dimension collapse, then lost consciousness as he hoped to see his family again.

  • Robert and the Combined Fleet routed the Jiralhanae fleet, capturing ships and Huragok while the Covenant Empire fell.
  • Sui Bian planned Frontier Fortresses and sector commands, and asked the Plague Doctor to develop vaccines for humanity and its Elite allies.
  • The Plague Doctor said his vaccine could prevent infection but could not stop people who willingly embraced the Plague.
  • Sui Bian watched Ziegler Cage and worried about her longing for D-1999, who had spent decades fighting in Hell.
  • D-1999 killed the final Pillar God, and the destruction of all 72 Pillar Gods caused Hell to collapse.
  • The nothingness swallowed D-1999, the Pursuer, and the surviving Tyrants, and D-1999 heard a young voice call him awake.

Ch. 284The Supervision Department's New "Employees"

D-1999 returned to Earth with the Pursuer and the Tyrants, where Umbrella welcomed him and reunited him with his family. After the reunion, Sui Bian considered assigning the returned warriors to the Supervision Department and its efforts against demons in the Warp.

  • D-1999 woke in a community park surrounded by children, then reunited with the Pursuer and the Tyrants as Price and Task Force 141 arrived to escort them.
  • Price welcomed D-1999 home and brought him to Raccoon City, where Ziegler, her mother Natalie, and her older sister Angie learned he had returned.
  • D-1999 reunited with Ziegler, Angie, and Natalie, apologized for coming home late, and asked Angie about her family and husband.
  • Sui Bian ordered the Red Queen to add the Pursuer to the Supervision Department, and the White Queen suggested assigning D-1999 to the Warp and Demon Supervision Department or Artemis's Grey Knights.

Ch. 285Red Alert 2 Teleportation and Car Crashes

Sui Bian welcomed D-1999 back into Umbrella, redeemed Red Alert 2 technology for military research, and warned that Chaos still threatened humanity. In New York, Mr. Kennedy sprang into action when a car crashed through a restaurant window.

  • Sui Bian arranged for D-1999 to join the Supervision Department and reunite with his family, with the Pursuer serving as his deputy.
  • Sui Bian redeemed the Chrono Legionnaire Individual Equipment and Prism Tower, then ordered Red Queen to develop short-range teleportation for Terminator Armor.
  • Ziegler thanked Sui Bian for reuniting her family, and he granted her fourteen days of leave to spend with Sergeant Cage.
  • Sui Bian warned White Queen and Red Queen to maintain surveillance because Chaos and corruption could spread even after humanity's victory.
  • Mr. Kennedy sat down for breakfast in a New York restaurant, then grabbed the waitress and leaped aside as an out-of-control car crashed through the window.
