Ye Zhao did not care how the people downstairs arranged themselves, nor did she have the spare energy to worry about it. After all, she was just a radiation patient losing her hair; being able to ensure her own survival was good enough.
She went straight up to the third floor and used her binoculars to look at the supermarket across the street. The situation there had become even more chaotic. Brother Leopard had led his men inside to loot, and without a word, they hacked at anyone they saw. This brutal and savage display quickly terrified the others into fleeing for their lives. A few who resisted were killed on the spot, their bodies displayed outside the supermarket to intimidate anyone who dared to harbor thoughts of rebellion.
Ordinary survivors could only watch from a distance, helpless and filled with rage and hatred as Brother Leopard and his men hauled away supplies.
The supermarket owner could have originally charged high prices or demanded gold and jade to make a fortune, but the moment Brother Leopard arrived, he took a bullet to the head.
Ye Zhao set up her sniper rifle and aimed at Brother Leopard, who was sitting on the checkout counter smoking.
This was her first time aiming a gun at a person, and Ye Zhao felt a bit nervous. She took a breath, held it for a second, and fired!
"Bang!" The bullet shattered the glass wall and flew past Brother Leopard's forehead.
The smug look on Brother Leopard's face was replaced by terror. He flipped off the checkout counter, gold spilling from his hands all over the floor. "What the hell, there's a sniper!"
"Everyone, be careful!"
Ye Zhao narrowed her eyes and fired a second shot!
"Bang!"
This one was even further off, nearly hitting Brother Leopard's foot.
Ye Zhao: It's okay, try again.
She fired several shots in a row, only succeeding in making Brother Leopard do a tap dance on the spot.
Brother Leopard's side was terrified; he scrambled and crawled behind a nearby cargo container. Because Ye Zhao had installed a silencer, Brother Leopard had no idea where the shots were coming from.
Brother Leopard's lackeys heard the commotion and immediately looked around vigilantly, banging their knives and clubs everywhere. "Who? Who the hell is shooting? Get out here!"
"Which blind idiot is looking for death!"
"When I find out who did this, I'll make sure they're torn to pieces!"
As these men shouted, a few more bullets grazed their bodies and shattered car windows. The men had initially been scared into hiding, but seeing how poor the opponent's marksmanship was, they burst into mocking laughter.
Brother Leopard, hiding in the back, finally poked his head out. "Damn dog, I think those shots came from the building across the street. Just wait, I'll definitely chop off his claws to drink with my wine!"
He ordered his brothers, "Don't dawdle, hurry up and load the supplies into the cars!"
"Bang!"
Another shot rang out, hitting Brother Leopard squarely in the shoulder!
The arrogant and dismissive Brother Leopard screamed in pain and collapsed to the ground. He crawled behind a car with a twisted expression to take cover. The other lackeys loading the supplies were also startled and hunched over to hide. Another shot flew out, this one blowing the head off one of the lackeys. The man, hit between the eyebrows, died with his eyes wide open, unable to rest in peace.
Ye Zhao nodded with satisfaction. Indeed, failure is the mother of success!
After being hit twice, the people on Brother Leopard's side finally dared not show their heads. Tsk.
Ye Zhao unwrapped a milk candy and popped it into her mouth, continuing to aim at Brother Leopard and his men. They couldn't stay hidden forever, anyway.
Over there, Brother Leopard clutched his bleeding shoulder. A lackey immediately tore off a piece of clothing to bandage the wound and whispered, "Brother Leopard, I think that sniper is a bit skilled. Why don't you give me the gun? I'll protect you!"
Brother Leopard was a large, muscular man, and he was indeed tough enough to keep standing despite being shot. No wonder his position was so secure. "Do you want to die?"
The man gave a fawning laugh. "I am loyal to you, Brother Leopard! I'm only thinking of you!"
Brother Leopard sneered. He gripped his gun and said, "Go start the car. Call the brothers back to the hotel. We have to find that bastard who's shooting from the shadows. I'm going to chop him up and feed him to the dogs!"
The man made a call to contact the brothers at the hotel, but after several attempts, no one answered. "Could something have happened to them?"
Brother Leopard's expression darkened further. "Let's go back first!" If his wound wasn't treated soon, he would bleed to death.
Ye Zhao didn't have to wait long. Sure enough, Brother Leopard and his men had come up with a plan: they would all move together, get in the cars, and return to the hotel.
Brother Leopard was still afraid of death; he sat in the back seat, hiding himself completely.
Ye Zhao's scope locked onto the driver in the front, and she fired again!
Another hit. This time, the bullet went straight through the driver's shoulder. The lackey's face twisted in pain, but he slammed on the gas, making the car speed up even faster.
He didn't dare hit the brakes now; if the car stopped, it meant death. The best way out was to get to the building across the street. Since the sniper was there, the closer they got to the building, the more it became a blind spot for the shooter.
Ye Zhao didn't think that far ahead. As long as she could aim, she could fire again. Seeing another bullet pierce the windshield, the driver was drenched in cold sweat, his face pale. His hands, gripping the steering wheel, were twisted with pain. He swerved violently, crashed into a neighboring vehicle, and the car stalled in the middle of the road.
Brother Leopard was furious. "How are you driving? Hurry up and get the car to the hotel!"
He even pressed his gun against the back of the driver's head. "Drive, you bastard, or I'll blow your brains out right now! Move!"
Unfortunately, there was no response for a long time; the driver had already passed out in the seat.
Brother Leopard's face twisted in uncontrollable rage.
He pulled out his phone and started frantically calling his other lackeys, but none of the men who had just escaped death answered. They were hiding like quails, not even daring to poke their heads out.
Ye Zhao looked at the two luxury cars crashed in the middle of the road. A grenade appeared in her palm; she pulled the pin and tossed it over.
The idea that someone could take ten hits and still get back up only existed for protagonists. These guys were clearly cannon fodder villains, and they deserved to die.
"Boom, boom, boom." Three explosions rang out.
The two million-dollar luxury cars erupted into raging flames. The survivors watching from afar couldn't help but spit. "Serves them right! They deserved it!"
"That's murder... how long has it been, and we're already killing people so casually..."
"Waaah, is there any way out for us ordinary people?"
"...Why is it like this? What happened to our world?"
"Honey, honey, oh god... those monsters killed my husband!"
"..."
Brother Leopard probably couldn't believe until his dying breath that he had died so obscurely. His grand ambitions had ended before they even began.
He didn't even know who had killed him.
As for Brother Leopard's lackeys, they rushed back to the hotel, only to look back and find that the car Brother Leopard was in had been blown up. They were in disbelief, but after the shock came wild joy. Brother Leopard was dead—didn't that mean they were the new bosses?
Ye Zhao put away her rifle, shouldered her machine gun, and headed downstairs.
