Huo Yu'er blinked, her deep blue eyes filled with confusion at this unfamiliar term.
"Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well?" She repeated softly, her tone laced with bewilderment. "What kind of place is that?"
Lin Shuo withdrew his gaze from the lake and turned his head to look at her.
"The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well is one of the three great treasure basins of the mortal world. It is formed by the Cold Extreme Ice Spring and the Blazing Sun Spring, which complement and balance each other in yin and yang. All plants there grow ten times faster than in the outside world. However, it was originally formed by the fall of the Water Dragon King and the Fire Dragon King, two of the Nine Great Dragon Kings."
Huo Yu'er listened, completely enthralled.
"After a long period of accumulation, it should be covered in many precious treasures, but those are not the most valuable things there." Lin Shuo faced Huo Yu'er, his tone calm yet carrying a certainty that made her heart tremble slightly. "The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well contains the lingering dragon souls of the Water Dragon King and the Fire Dragon King. I believe that if you absorb them, you can obtain the Water Dragon King martial soul."
Huo Yu'er was stunned.
The Water Dragon King martial soul. Although she knew almost nothing about the dragon race, she could tell just from Lin Shuo's words that this was an incredibly powerful martial soul even among dragons.
"But..." Huo Yu'er spoke instinctively, her voice somewhat strained. "Such powerful strength—can I really absorb it?"
"You can." Lin Shuo's answer was only two words, so brief it was almost perfunctory, yet the certainty contained within them gave Huo Yu'er more peace of mind than any long-winded explanation ever could.
She took a deep breath, lifted her head, and the hesitation vanished from her deep blue eyes.
"Brother Lin, I will go with you."
Lin Shuo nodded slightly, saying nothing more. The two walked side by side out of Shrek Academy, passed through the streets of Shrek City, and headed toward the city gates.
In the intervals of their journey, Lin Shuo diverted a strand of his divine sense into his own spiritual sea. Within that vast, boundless seven-colored space, the gray air currents of Electrolux had become much more solid than they were a few months ago, and the outline of an old man could be vaguely discerned.
"Elder Eli," Lin Shuo called out with his thoughts.
The gray air currents rippled slightly, and an aged, peaceful voice sounded: "Little friend, what is it?"
"I have something to ask for your advice." Lin Shuo got straight to the point. "The Ice Silkworm from earlier transformed into Huo Yu'er's wisdom soul ring through a sacrificial method, retaining its self-awareness while bestowing the ring upon the soul master. Do you think this method of coexistence between soul master and soul beast could be realized and promoted among ordinary soul beasts?"
Electrolux was silent for a moment, and faint ripples appeared at the edges of the gray air currents.
"Although I have studied the soul extensively, the cultivation systems of your world and mine are slightly different. This old man needs some time to study it."
Lin Shuo nodded and withdrew his divine sense. He trusted Electrolux; in the original story, Electrolux had used the Snow Empress to realize the method of soul spirits. Given time, he would certainly be able to achieve it.
The two left Shrek City and used a flying soul tool to fly toward the Sunset Forest. After several days of travel, the outline of the Sunset Forest gradually appeared in the distance.
"Brother Lin, is that the Sunset Forest?" Huo Yu'er asked, pointing to the forest ahead.
"Yes," Lin Shuo nodded slightly.
They landed on the edge of the Sunset Forest, put away the flying soul tool, and walked on foot toward the depths of the forest.
The vegetation in the Sunset Forest appeared much sparser than in the Star Dou Great Forest, and the soul beasts were pitifully weak.
After arriving at the Sunset Forest, the two continued to walk inward, but even deep inside, they rarely saw thousand-year soul beasts.
Lin Shuo stopped and raised his hand to press against the silver Reverse Scale on his chest. The power of space surged out silently, transmitting a thought through the connection of the scale.
Only a moment later, the space in front of them split open without a sound. A slender figure stepped out—her silver hair like a waterfall, her purple eyes like water, and her plain white dress shimmering with moonlight amidst the forest's light and shadow.
The moment Huo Yu'er saw this woman, her breath hitched involuntarily.
She had never seen such an existence. That beauty was not of this world; it was an extremity of divinity that made one afraid to even breathe too loudly. The woman simply stood there quietly, without any soul power fluctuations, yet Huo Yu'er felt as if she were standing at the foot of a ten-thousand-foot snow peak, feeling so insignificant as to be almost non-existent.
When Lin Shuo saw her, the usually indifferent expression in his eyes softened significantly.
"Sister Na'er! Long time no see." Lin Shuo said.
"Mm." Gu Yuena nodded slightly, her purple eyes resting on Lin Shuo for a moment before slowly shifting to the blue-haired girl beside him.
The moment their eyes met, Huo Yu'er instinctively clenched the corner of her clothes, her fingertips turning slightly white. She could feel that gaze resting on her, clearly assessing something.
"I am Little Shuo's sister, Gu Yuena," the silver-haired woman said, her voice as cold and clear as jade. "You are Huo Yu'er?"
Sister. These two words made Huo Yu'er breathe a secret sigh of relief, but a more complex emotion surged in its wake. Only a woman like this was worthy of being Brother Lin's sister.
Yet, she was also curious: why did Brother Lin and Gu Yuena have different surnames if they were siblings?
"Hello, Sister Gu, my name is Huo Yu'er." She lowered her head, trying her best to keep her voice steady, though she could hear the involuntary tremor in it herself.
Gu Yuena's gaze lingered on her for a moment, her purple eyes revealing no ripples; she simply nodded very slightly, uttered a "Mm," and shifted her gaze away.
Lin Shuo took in this scene but said nothing more.
"Let's go."
Gu Yuena raised her hand and traced a line in the void, and a silver space gate opened silently. The three of them stepped into it one after another.
Using the power of space, they passed directly through the miasma generated by the Jade Phosphorus Seven Absolute Flowers on the outskirts of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.
The moment she stepped out of the space gate, Huo Yu'er couldn't help but hold her breath.
The valley was as gorgeous and moving as if it were illuminated by a rainbow. The valley was not large, yet it grew countless plants whose names Huo Yu'er did not know. The plants guarded a lake, which was clearly divided into two parts. One side was ice-white, emitting a faint white mist, while the other was fiery red, with the light above it slightly distorted. The entire space was filled with the essence of heaven and earth.
"So beautiful..." Huo Yu'er murmured.
However, what truly shocked her was yet to come.
The moment Lin Shuo and Gu Yuena stepped into the valley, an invisible ripple centered on the two of them spread out silently.
Gu Yuena's silver hair stirred without wind, and a faint, cold light flashed in her purple eyes. At the same time, Lin Shuo released his martial soul; the phantom of the Seven-Colored Dragon King slowly solidified behind him, seven-colored light flowing as dragon might poured out like a physical force.
The two auras overlapped, spreading silently from the two of them across the entire valley.
Then, Huo Yu'er witnessed a scene she would never forget for the rest of her life.
