The sunlight was abruptly cut off by a sudden burst of golden light. The once-bustling street fell into an eerie silence within seconds. A fruit seller pushing a cart froze in place, and plump apples rolled across the ground, with no one bothering to pick them up. The city guards on patrol stood rooted to the spot, their hands gripping spears suspended in midair. By the windows of a tavern, several Soul Masters held their wine cups as wine spilled onto their clothes, unnoticed.
Everyone looked up.
The golden curtain of light in the sky was so vast and so clear. Clear enough that the blood at the corner of the man's mouth, beneath his crimson armor, could be seen in every detail.
"What is that?" a noble in fine clothes murmured.
No one answered him.
Then a high-pitched, icy female voice, brimming with boundless killing intent, rang across the sky.
"Ten thousand years ago. In the name of an enforcer, you plotted to murder your fellow gods. You joined forces with the Sea God, the Fire God, and the God of Light to encircle and kill your own kind, divide their authority, and plunder their faith."
The Divine Realm? Enforcers? Plundering faith?
To ordinary commoners, gods were no more than ethereal beings in legends, or cold statues on the walls of Spirit Hall.
