Bang!
It was a bullet fired from a sniper rifle. In terms of impact force, speed, and kinetic energy, it was far beyond what any machine gun or rifle round could match. A single bullet shattered the Taotie Guard's protective organ, spun at high speed as it pierced into the Taotie Beast King's body, and burst open with a crack.
Oww!
That was the Taotie Beast King's agonized roar.
The Taotie Beast King was truly formidable. Such a powerful bullet had only managed to injure one of its forelimbs. Its physical resilience had reached a terrifying level.
Xiao Hen's expression turned grim. This Beast King's strength was by no means lacking. In the movie, it had died before ever truly fighting, but there was no denying that the one who could become the king of the Taotie race possessed far more than just terrifying reproductive ability.
Bang, bang, bang...
Xiao Hen kept firing the sniper rifle, but the Taotie Guards, now prepared, threw themselves one after another in front of the Beast King. Yet they were met with bullets that blew their heads apart, leaving them forever still on the ground.
Ugh-ow...
The Taotie Beast King snarled in fury, baring its fangs. Countless Taoties rapidly converged on Xiao Hen's position. Even Lin Mei and William on the tower were no longer their primary target. In the Beast King's mind, the greatest threat to it now was none other than Xiao Hen.
Taoties charged in a frenzied wave. With no other choice, Xiao Hen stowed the sniper rifle. Such a weapon was clearly useless in this kind of melee.
What appeared in his hands instead were two machine guns.
Rat-a-tat-tat...
Rat-a-tat-tat...
The machine guns roared, each bullet shattering a Taotie's skull. They surged forward wave after wave, only to collapse one by one, never to rise again. The number of Taoties Xiao Hen had killed had already reached hundreds, nearly a thousand.
Xiao Hen advanced step by step, his feet treading the earth, the soles of his boots soaked in the green blood of Taoties. His face was cold and ruthless. Flames flickering with the light of death spat from his hands as the machine guns thundered on. Every Taotie that rushed at him was like a moth diving into a flame—falling dead before they could even get close. The bullets tore through their bodies, reaping their lives without mercy.
Through the window, Lin Mei and William stared blankly at the scene unfolding on the square below.
"H-he... why is he so strong..." William stammered. Such terrifying power was beyond what any mortal should possess. His bow was formidable, but compared to the Xiao Hen before him, it was like comparing heaven and earth—utterly incomparable, worlds apart.
"I don't know. I don't know either!" Lin Mei shook her head, her expression complicated. She had thought Xiao Hen had fled. Facing the terrifying Taoties, running wasn't uncommon; there had been deserters before. She truly believed he had escaped. But this scene before her made her realize he hadn't. With such overwhelming strength, why would he need to run?
"With power like this, why didn't he show it earlier? What kind of weapons are those in his hands? Why are they so deadly?" Lin Mei's eyes locked onto Xiao Hen's hands. Those mysterious weapons, spitting fire and unleashing hidden projectiles, were like blades from hell, ceaselessly reaping Taotie lives.
The ferocious, merciless Taoties were nothing more than sheep charging into a pack of wolves before Xiao Hen. They posed no threat. The only path awaiting them seemed to be death.
Even the distant King of Taotie showed a flicker of terror. Could this man truly be immortal?
What were those weapons in his hands? Why were they so terrifying?
Click, click, click...
Suddenly, the machine guns in Xiao Hen's hands, still spitting fire, fell silent with a few hollow clicks.
Tch. Xiao Hen flipped his hands and stowed both machine guns back into his Storage Space. The ammunition was spent. It seemed that if he wanted to take down the Beast King, he'd have to rely on cold steel.
The square was littered with Taotie corpses, but the living ones far outnumbered the dead. Xiao Hen had killed over a thousand, yet the surviving Taoties were still countless. He swept his gaze around. Endless Taoties were closing in. Without the machine guns' barrage, their charge was swift—in the blink of an eye, they were upon him.
"Cold steel it is. I'm not afraid of you beasts!"
Xiao Hen drew his longsword. His movements were incredibly agile as he darted among the Taoties. With every motion, the sword in his hand stabbed out, withdrew, and stabbed again with lightning speed.
His footwork was nimble, his body weaving through the endless Taoties as he steadily closed in on the Taotie Beast King. His target had always been the Beast King.
Though the Taoties were countless, Xiao Hen didn't have to face ten thousand at once—only a few at a time. As those few fell to his blade, others would fill the gaps and continue the siege. But Xiao Hen's individual combat prowess was simply too overwhelming. No matter how many Taoties came, none could stand against him.
As if stepping into an empty void, Xiao Hen carved his way straight through the encirclement. His eyes were cold and merciless, locked onto the distant Taotie Beast King. He never stopped moving, building a path to the Beast King with the corpses of Taoties.
"Time to die!"
The last few dozen Taoties stood guard before the Taotie Beast King. Under its control, they didn't recklessly attack Xiao Hen but held their ground to protect their king. Xiao Hen let out a low chuckle, crouched, and sprang forward. His combat instincts had already calculated the optimal approach. With peak-level technique, he wielded his sword—every swing, every thrust, every step, every dodge was executed with precision.
Every Taotie blocking his path fell to his blade. Flicking the green blood from his sword, Xiao Hen raised his head and looked at the Taotie Beast King before him.
"Now, it's your turn." He lifted his sword, pointing it at the Beast King's head.
Oww!
The Taotie Beast King, never having suffered such humiliation, erupted in fury. It roared again, commanding the surrounding Taoties to attack. In truth, the ordinary Taoties had never stopped attacking—but Xiao Hen's killing speed was too fast. The few dozen Taoties guarding the Beast King had died too quickly, leaving no time for others to fill the breach.
"Too late!"
Xiao Hen smiled faintly. With a flicker of movement, he charged at the Taotie Beast King.
A flash of sword light, blinding and cold.
The Taotie Beast King reacted swiftly, raising a claw to block.
Crack!
Oww!
The Beast King's agonized howl rang out. Xiao Hen paid it no mind and pressed the attack. No one understood the Beast King's plight better than he did. This strike had been exceptionally fast and sharp—one of the Beast King's claws had been severed.
As the saying goes, beat a dog when it's down. Xiao Hen wasn't about to waste such a golden opportunity. He pressed his advantage relentlessly, giving no quarter.
The Taotie Beast King kept retreating, dodging Xiao Hen's sword light as best it could. When it couldn't evade, it had no choice but to endure. Even with its formidable body, Xiao Hen's sword pierced its defenses again and again, green blood spraying from fresh wounds. The Beast King could only roar in fury, urging the surrounding Taoties to come to its aid.
"Die!"
Xiao Hen suddenly growled. He dropped low, lunged forward, gripped his sword with both hands, and swung it in one clean arc.
Shiiing...
A jet of green blood shot into the air. Following it into the sky was the Taotie Beast King's head.
All the Taoties that had been charging froze in place. A gust of wind swept through, and one by one, the rigid creatures collapsed.
Xiao Hen sheathed his sword and stood tall amidst the carnage.
