At that moment, Xiao Hen felt the ground trembling. He understood that The Hive had self-destructed. Everything underground had been destroyed, and Umbrella's high-ranking personnel sleeping within it had vanished along with the explosion. It was all over.

Giving Alice, who lay motionless on the ground, one final look, he knew Claire would arrive soon, along with the Red Queen. Fortunately, with the release of the Antivirus Agent, these low-level zombies had all vanished. Only those powerful, high-level virus-enhanced monsters could temporarily resist the effects of the Antivirus Agent.

For example, the Giant Bat Monsters before him flew through the sky like Western Giant Dragons. Xiao Hen glanced at them, then swept his submachine gun through the air. After injuring one of them, he provoked furious roars from the others.

However, Xiao Hen gave a cold laugh and rapidly moved forward, already running into a building.

As time passed, Xiao Hen wandered throughout the city. He rested at night and came out during the day to search for food, usable weapons, and other supplies. In the blink of an eye, it was time to return.

A scorching sensation from the Mechanical Mark on the back of his hand entered his mind.

This is where I should explain my setting for the protagonist's personality: cold, resolute, even selfish, authoritarian, and domineering, but he would never lose that final trace of humanity. He had his own bottom line!

I also considered writing a ruthless protagonist who would stop at nothing, but that would inevitably alienate some readers who preferred positive energy. Many readers who enjoy infinite-flow stories like cold and domineering protagonists, so I wrote this kind. But if I truly wrote a heartless and faithless protagonist, even I wouldn't be able to accept it!

So in the end, this author chose to write a protagonist who would rather give up some immediate benefits than lose the trace of righteousness within himself.
