Song Ren continued through the DLC with a sigh. Compared to the main game, Zack's DLC storyline wasn't all that long.
And it had already reached the latter half. At this point, Zack and Tseng of the Turks headed to the border together to investigate Genesis's whereabouts.
It was here that Zack met Cloud, the protagonist, for the first time, and the two got along remarkably well.
They also shared one trait: both came from the countryside.
But although Cloud was the game's protagonist, it was obvious that Zack, not Cloud, had far more screen time in this DLC segment.
"Honor destroyed. When I wished to fly, my wings were broken. Such is the end of a monster." As the representative artsy young man, Genesis always carried around a copy of Loveless. Even after being defeated by Zack, he still hadn't forgotten to act cool.
There was one thing Song Ren had to admit: Genesis really was handsome.
Sephiroth, Genesis, those 1st Class Shinra SOLDIERs—they were all better than the last at acting cool.
Even Angeal, the big brother figure, might not have been as stylish as Sephiroth and Genesis in appearance, but his words and actions were every bit as manly.
Especially that line: "A SOLDIER must have dreams. Never forget your dreams."
Zack had practically made it his creed in life.
So when Genesis began reciting opera, Zack spoke up. "We aren't monsters! We're SOLDIERs! Where is your honor?"
Faced with Zack's question, Genesis merely backed slowly toward the Mako Reactor, reciting as he retreated, "Even without a promised tomorrow, I will surely return to where you are. If this world threatens my life... then we shall perish together."
With those words, Genesis leaped into the Mako Reactor.
