Abilities weren't necessary either?
At the moment she heard him say that, Osphia watched Yota take a portable control terminal out of his Participant Space.
One virtual screen after another projected itself around him. Lines of complex command letters scrolled endlessly across the pitch-black backend interface.
The faint glow illuminated the side of the boy's face behind his oversized black-framed glasses, while his fingers flew across the keys at a speed almost too fast to see.
Then, in just a few short minutes,
Fang Ran and Osphia saw Yota raise his head. Seemingly uncomfortable under their gazes, he said:
"I made some slight changes to the verification process. As long as we get past the guards and inside, we shouldn't trigger an alarm as unidentified people."
That fast!?
"You can directly alter the security system there!?"
Momentarily stunned, that was the first thought that sprang into Fang Ran's mind. Hearing Osphia's astonished disbelief, he asked somewhat oddly:
"What? Didn't you hack into their backend too?"
"That's different."
Osphia slowly shook her head, unable to hide her slight surprise as she explained:
"What I did was merely some basic common-sense operations, but the security systems in places frequented by important figures are absolutely core systems. Hacking them is no easier than hacking certain government agencies, and you'd definitely need to steal access permissions."
With a trace of disbelief in her azure eyes, she reassessed the seemingly helpless boy.
"How did you handle such an enormous amount of computation in such a short time...?"
Honestly, Fang Ran had no idea how impressive this was. He had merely noticed Osphia's phrase, "basic common-sense operations," and felt embarrassed for half a second about being a computer science major.
He decisively changed the subject, slinging an arm around Yota's shoulders as he exclaimed in admiration:
