After finishing a morning of Night Device training and an afternoon assisting with experiments, just as he left the Mentor's laboratory and was about to go find Tang Bing,
Fang Ran suddenly saw Shui Linlang's call come through over the sea.
Grandma Shui?
Though surprised, he wasn't taken aback. With Shui Linlang's abilities, she surely knew he had retrieved the Black Box. But remembering that night in London when he had refused to return to Huaxia,
Fang Ran felt a little ashamed and apologetic that, despite this elder silently helping him all along, he kept refusing to listen to her.
As he accepted the call, unsure what to say, Fang Ran heard Shui Linlang on the other side of the sea ask with a smile, like an elderly person who didn't understand high technology:
"Hello? Hello? Can you hear me?"
Hearing her deliberately silly joke, his unnecessary worries faded. Fang Ran smiled helplessly and foolishly, taking on the obedient, placating tone of a junior.
"Yes, yes, I can hear you. I can hear you."
Apparently satisfied with that answer, Shui Linlang laughed lightly, her tone lively on the other end of the sea.
"Though there's a lot I want to say, time is limited. In a while, I still need to see whether Lian Xin is having fun outside."
Speechless at her open declaration that she wanted to spy on her granddaughter's private life, Fang Ran had yet to speak when Shui Linlang asked with a light laugh:
"How are things now?"
Though he had not yet asked Klim which area Tang Bing was in, he instinctively began walking forward slowly anyway.
Fang Ran scratched his head at the eventful ups and downs of the past few days. Thinking of how they were safe now, he answered with an easy
