In the night, human cities resembled patches of golden light scattered across an endless black earth, linked by countless crisscrossing threads to form this entire "world."
And along one of those countless threads, a train departed from a station in central Geneva.
The train bound for distant Rome raced along the tracks through the night, beginning to slow as it approached its next stop.
