Charlotte's voice fell upon Elephant Person Agon's ears like that of a devil coaxing him along. He knew that the future Charlotte described might be the best possible future for the orcs.
Agon also knew that whether they returned to the Southern Continent or remained on the northern shore of the Red Dragon Strait, the orcs had no future at all.
Disasters were frequent on the Southern Continent. Every year brought a season of drought and another of torrential rain. All manner of magical beasts, horrors, Evil Spirits, and ferocious giant monsters often attacked the orcs. Many orc tribes had lived in plenty one year, only to vanish entirely the next.
Yet there was no way to survive on the northern shore of the Red Dragon Strait either. There was almost no food here, and the orcs could not possibly transport enough grain from the Southern Continent. Even the Southern Continent did not have enough food, and they had already eaten all the nearby humans.
Unless they attacked the Empire of Fars again. But Byron had talked them into attacking Strasbourg, where they had lost countless elite orcs. No one wanted to risk their lives for Byron anymore.
This was also one of the key reasons why this orc camp had remained still.
