The Old Emperor had no siblings, but Axel was a large family.
For example, Charlotte had only one older brother and one older sister, but the Mecklen surname belonged to a large family, with at least dozens of members!
If Charlotte had property to pass down, he might leave it to his daughter or grandson, but unless neither existed, he was unlikely to give it to children from his brother's branch, much less Zimmerman's illegitimate son.
Of course, the Mecklen Family and the Axel Family were not the same thing.
Charlotte said softly, "It looks like he's going to the imperial palace!"
Anne nodded.
The two understood each other without a word and left the dining table together. Charlotte tossed down one flor, took Anne into the carriage, and followed the convoy ahead. Before long, they entered the imperial palace.
Count Brittany had long since taken control of all Strasbourg, including the inside and outside of the imperial palace. By now, everyone in the palace had been replaced by members of the Brittany Family.
Thus, this Prince's convoy was stopped outside the palace.
A butler-like man quickly went to negotiate with the palace guards. Naturally, the Brittany Family's guards would not simply let them through. They held the Prince back while sending someone to inform Antonio.
Antonio was now in charge of everything in the imperial palace.
Charlotte and Anne did not continue following the convoy. They got out of their carriage, went around it, and arrived before the palace. This time, the palace guards merely glanced at them and let them in without even trying to stop them.
The old butler handling the negotiations flew into a rage and shouted, "Why can these two young people enter the imperial palace at will, while Prince Avery must wait?"
Charlotte smiled.
