"Hoo!"
A beam of light pierced his vision, and Himeshima Tsuki opened his eyes.
The sky was pitch black, even the white clouds stained a deep crimson. This place was completely unfamiliar, lacking the azure hue of his memories, as if the entire sky were pressing down upon him.
The sound of fire crackling reached his ears, accompanied by a strange, acrid scent.
"Where is this?"
Himeshima Tsuki gritted his teeth; his head felt as heavy as lead, making it impossible to stand.
He exerted all his strength, but he couldn't rise. He could only manage to roll over and struggle to prop himself up.
Scanning his surroundings, he saw the ground was scorched earth.
Small flames burned quietly here and there, and the nearby trees had been reduced to ash. People lay scattered across the ground, one here, another there.
Most importantly, every single one of them was drenched in blood, their bodies half-covered in black soot.
In his memory, he had been up all night playing games at home just a short while ago. He had only been catching up on some sleep because he couldn't stay awake any longer—how did a nap land him in a place like this?
"System binding in progress, 10%... 30%... 100%."
"System binding successful."
"Myriad Worlds Lottery System, soul binding successful."
Myriad Worlds Lottery System?
A series of electronic tones suddenly rang out in his mind, causing Himeshima Tsuki to shudder.
Having been a shut-in for over twenty years, Himeshima Tsuki knew exactly what a system meant.
This was the essential cheat code for transmigrators; almost every transmigrator reached the pinnacle of life with the help of a system after crossing over.
As he thought about it, Himeshima Tsuki grew excited.
Does this mean he had caught the transmigration trend too?
And he had even obtained a system cheat! From now on, he would reach the pinnacle of life—just thinking about it was enough to make him wake up laughing.
"System, introduce your functions?"
Himeshima Tsuki called out to the system in his mind, just like in the novels.
"Replying to the host, the Myriad Worlds Lottery System can provide the host with items and skills from across the myriad worlds."
"So, I can obtain abilities from other worlds too?"
"Yes, the Myriad Worlds Lottery System will assist the host in becoming the Master of Dimensions."
"How do I obtain those abilities?"
"Complete missions. Depending on the difficulty, you can earn lottery chances. Please explore on your own... Due to the successful initial binding, the system will reward the host with one Myriad Worlds Lottery draw."
"A reward of one draw?"
"The Myriad Worlds Lottery is the only way for the host to obtain abilities from the myriad worlds. The rewards are completely random, with SSS-rank being the best and E-rank being the worst."
"Then draw."
"Understood."
Himeshima Tsuki communicated with the system in his mind. Although he hadn't gained much information, at least there was a beginner's gift package.
"Congratulations to the host for obtaining the ability—Rasengan (A-rank)."
"Lottery complete. At this stage, the host is required to explore this dimensional world on their own. Aside from during lottery draws, the system will enter sleep mode. Other than that, the system only provides an attribute panel and a mission panel."
"----"
Himeshima Tsuki had just felt a spark of joy after hearing he'd drawn the Rasengan, but he hadn't expected the system to enter sleep mode immediately.
"Hey, System, you're too useless."
"Wait."
Himeshima Tsuki had just called out, but the cold electronic voice was already gone from his mind.
To be honest, Himeshima Tsuki really hadn't expected things to turn out like this. The legendary cheat system had gone into sleep mode only a minute after appearing.
Sighing, Himeshima Tsuki felt helpless.
"Attributes."
He muttered the word, intending to check his current status.
Name: Himeshima Tsuki Status: Normal (The system restored negative status effects upon successful binding.) Ability: Rasengan (A-rank) Combat Power: Unranked (??) Friendly Reminder: Combat power refers to the level of strength one can exert. The ranks are divided into Unranked, Genin, Chunin, Jonin, Kage, Super Kage, Six Paths, and God. Each level has its own range; not all levels are of the same caliber.
"----"
Yueshu was stunned. He hadn't expected the attribute panel to be so concise; other people's systems usually listed all five senses and various attributes, but this panel seemed to say nothing at all, save for a friendly reminder.
"How unlucky, this is completely unreliable. Is my combat power really just 'non-influential'?" Yueshu felt the heavy weight lift, muttered a complaint, and stood up.
This level description had already given him a rough idea of which world he was in.
The surroundings were gloomy, giving off a suffocating feeling, and Yueshu felt a chilling sensation in his heart.
Just then, a gust of wind blew past.
A black shadow darted by, and Yueshu tilted his body slightly to dodge it.
"What the—hell is that—"
Yueshu cursed.
"Mission triggered: Kill the Rain ninja genin in front of you. Reward: One lucky draw."
An emotionless electronic voice rang out in his mind, and Yueshu froze for a moment.
"I didn't expect a little brat to have slipped through the net."
A voice came from ahead, and Yueshu shifted his gaze toward it.
It was an adult man wearing cloth armor, with a forehead protector engraved with four vertical lines.
"Starting a war on our land just because we are weak? What 'Great Hidden Village'? You're nothing but a bunch of scum!"
The man gritted his teeth. He looked extremely wretched, covered in wounds, with blood staining half of his body.
The man gripped a kunai and walked over, step by step.
Yueshu's breathing quickened. He was just a shut-in; he had never experienced a scene like this.
"Damn it!"
Yueshu cursed. In other people's transmigration stories, they would act cool and reach the pinnacle of life, so why was his style so wrong? He encountered a Rain ninja right at the start, and judging by the man's words, he seemed to be in a very precarious time period.
"Not bad for a mere brat. Is this what one expects from Konoha?"
The man wore a sinister smile as he charged forward, kunai in hand.
"Konoha?"
Yueshu was dazed for a moment, but there was no time for him to space out.
The Rain ninja's figure lunged toward him, and Yueshu's hands trembled uncontrollably.
He took a deep breath and channeled the chakra within his body. The only thing he possessed was the Rasengan he had just drawn.
"Die!"
The Rain ninja shouted, his body already right in front of him.
Yueshu didn't blink; he timed it perfectly and dodged the kunai the man had slashed toward him.
"That was close."
Yueshu gasped for air. He couldn't believe it—he was just a shut-in, and even if he had been an athletic boy once, was that movement really something he could pull off?
Without thinking too much, the chakra in his body surged out and gathered in Yueshu's hand.
The Rain ninja seemed to sense something was wrong. Having already experienced war, he wouldn't just wait for Yueshu to unleash a big move.
"Go to hell!"
The Rain ninja yelled, his blood-stained arm swinging the kunai toward Yueshu.
His breathing slowed, and the man's movements in his eyes seemed to crawl. A flash crossed Yueshu's eyes; he tilted his body, dodging the kunai by a hair's breadth.
The Rain ninja's pupils constricted as he saw a small figure pounce toward him.
"Rasengan!"
With the sound, wind whipped around them, and Yueshu struck the Rain ninja's body with the blue-and-white rotating sphere in his hand.
The next second, the Rain ninja's body flew backward as if he were a thin sheet of paper.
With a loud thud, the Rain ninja slammed into a tree, his body partially embedded into the trunk.
Yueshu gasped for air. He hadn't expected he would actually succeed. It felt innate, as if he were following an instinct to perform the signature jutsu of the Hokage—the Rasengan.
The man in front of him slumped down with a flop. His eyes were slowly dimming, and there was a spiral-shaped wound on his body. There was no blood, but it was a heartbreaking sight.
"Hahaha."
The man began to laugh, his voice weak.
"What did we ever do wrong? Are we weak? Is it because we are weak? Don't drag our families into your own affairs!"
Yueshu watched the man from the side. The man clenched his hands, and pure tears flowed from his dimming eyes.
"Rest in peace."
Yueshu was silent for a moment. He placed his hands over the man's face and drew them down, closing the man's eyes, though a single crystalline tear remained.
"Rain ninja killed. Mission complete. Reward: One lucky draw."
An electronic voice rang out inside his head, yet Yueshu felt no great joy.
Smoke rose from the fires all around, and mangled corpses lay scattered across the land. Their dull, lifeless eyes remained open, and the forehead protectors buried under soot and ash all bore four vertical slashes, with only a few showing other markings.
These were the forehead protectors of Amegakure, and the scorched earth beneath his feet was, without a doubt, Amegakure itself.
Yueshu gritted his teeth. As a seasoned otaku, he naturally knew what world he had arrived in and what era it was.
The situation he was facing was undoubtedly the Second Shinobi World War from Naruto, where the conflicts between the great shinobi villages had erupted right here in Amegakure, dragging its innocent people into the abyss of war.
"War, is it?"
Yueshu whispered to himself, and at this very moment, he was the only living soul in this entire area.
