Compared to the ideologies of great figures from his past life or the brainwashing tactics of other nations' political parties, Konoha's Will of Fire was as simple as child's play. Yet, Yu could understand it; the world of Hokage was, after all, a place of intellectual barrenness.
Thus, when a collectivist ideology emphasizing sacrifice and devotion emerged—and was proposed and treated as absolute truth by the most powerful man of the era—it became a beacon of light for this world.
However, understanding it did not mean Yu would accept it. Furthermore, since this ideology was built upon the destruction of his own family, acceptance was all the more impossible!
He loved his current, gentle mother. Although Fugaku was rigid by nature, one could not deny he was a good father. His younger brother was so well-behaved, and there was little Sasuke, who always wanted to be held. As an orphan in his past life, everything he had now was what he had craved most.
From his initial maladjustment upon arriving in this world, to the fear that this was all just a dream, and finally to slowly accepting everything as it was, Yu had sworn that he would protect all this beauty and never let it vanish from his side again.
This was also the reason Yu disliked seeing Shisui; his younger brother idolized this youth far too much. Watching Itachi standing to the side with an earnest, receptive expression, Yu felt his temper flare.
It wasn't that Yu hadn't thought about changing Shisui's mindset, but the guy was as stubborn as an ox, determined to walk his path to the bitter end, never turning back until he hit a stone wall. Yu truly wished he could awaken the Kotoamatsukami of the Mangekyō Sharingan right now to cast a look at this guy, whose head was practically glowing with idealism, that he might finally understand.
Unfortunately, his cheat couldn't do that! Yu felt a wave of melancholy. Ever since he bound his Cultivation System, he and the ninjas of this world had been walking on two different paths. He had tried stimulating his emotions when no one was around, but the results could only be described as pathetic.
Aside from staring at empty air until his eyes grew dry, it was utterly useless.
Perhaps as his cultivation progressed, the greater transformation of his body by Spirit Energy would activate the bloodline within him, but Yu had a premonition that the stubborn Cultivation System would never grant him a Sharingan.
He and his brother were now six years old. According to the timeline, there were four years left until Danzo gouged out Shisui's eyes and his brother, deceived by Obito, chose to massacre the clan. These four years were his window for development. With his current strength, he could barely trade blows with a Jonin.
Dealing with Kage-level powerhouses was still a stretch, but Yu had enough confidence that within these four years, he would definitely rank among them. Once his cultivation advanced to the stage of Refining Qi into Spirit, granting him sufficient spiritual power, and one of his Five Elements Escape Techniques reached the perfection level—
Then, in the current Konoha, there would be absolutely no one who could be his match, unless the First Hokage and Madara crawled out of their graves.
"Hmph! That sounds nice, but in reality, can the higher-ups even see your efforts? It's nothing more than your own wishful thinking!" Seeing Shisui preparing to lead his brother on again, Yu pulled Itachi behind him, cutting off Shisui before he could retort. "Speaking of which, you didn't come here today empty-handed, did you?" Yu teased.
Shisui, who had been about to preach more grand principles, paused, then sheepishly scratched the back of his head. "How could I? I just forgot because I was so eager to teach you more about the Will of Fire!"
With that, Shisui pulled two sealing scrolls from behind his back. With a gesture to release them, two "poof" sounds echoed, and two sleek katanas with deep red scabbards, perfectly sized for Yu and Itachi, appeared before them.
Yu took one without ceremony and drew the blade. A cold glint reflected on his face. He weighed the sword and tested its balance; it felt quite good. He glanced at Shisui, who was still looking a bit foolish.
"I suppose you have a heart."
Although his family didn't lack weapons made of Chakra Metal, considering Shisui's living conditions, these two swords must have cost him at least half a year's savings.
This gesture carried significant weight. Now that his Artifact Refining Technique had reached the ordinary level, it shouldn't be a problem to ask his father for some Chakra Metal later and refine it into a low-grade magical sword.
"My mother has probably finished cooking. Why don't you come to my place and have a bite?" Yu offered, his heart softening.
"No, no! I shouldn't trouble Lady Mikoto. I still have to report my mission to the Third Hokage in a while," Shisui hurriedly declined. He was fine being alone with Yu and Itachi, but he always felt a sense of oppression when facing the Clan Head.
"Fine, fine! You busy man. I won't hold you up. Mother is probably waiting impatiently, so we'll head home now." With that, Yu pulled Itachi, who still looked like he wanted to say something to Shisui, and hurried toward home.
"Yu! Still as stubborn as ever!" Watching the two small backs receding, Shisui frowned slightly. "Who could have taught him such distrust of the village? Could it be the Clan Head..."
Unable to figure it out, Shisui walked toward his own home alone.
"Brother, why do you always have to argue with Shisui-nii?" Itachi asked, sounding somewhat dissatisfied.
"Itachi, take a piece of advice from your brother: listen less to Shisui's grand principles. It won't do you any good." Yu looked at his younger brother earnestly.
"Is it wrong to want peace for the village and the clan?" A stubborn look appeared on Itachi's small face.
"Peace isn't wrong, but the method is! Itachi, the Konoha higher-ups aren't as kind as you think," Yu said solemnly.
"Is what Brother says the only truth, then?"
Yu suddenly felt a pang of heartache. This was the first time Itachi had questioned him. Yu felt a flash of anger, but when he saw the confusion in Itachi's eyes, the fire in his heart instantly vanished.
"Itachi, time will prove everything. Give your brother some time. The Uchiha shouldn't end up like this!"
"Mm! Brother, I will wait for you to give me the answer." Itachi nodded earnestly.
Seeing this, Yu didn't want to say anything more. If one day Itachi walked down the wrong path, he, as his brother, would use the Iron Fist of Love to pull him back to the right one.
When they reached the door, they saw their mother standing there, waiting for them as if she had been looking into the distance for ages.
"Mother, we're home!" Yu smiled sweetly at Mikoto, whose eyes were filled with tenderness.
"Did you make any friends at school today?" Mikoto asked softly.
"Hehe, I made a cute little sister today!" Yu teased.
Mikoto covered her mouth and giggled. "Oh! I didn't expect our Yu to have little girls liking him at such a young age!"
"Mother, you're just talking nonsense. I just treat her like a little sister, it's just that the purple clothes she wore today were quite charming."
Seeing his mother laughing happily, Yu couldn't help but tease her back. "Mother, believe it or not, one day I'll go to the Hyuga house next door and find you a daughter-in-law who will give you the cold shoulder!"
"Haha, Yu, you're the naughtiest! What about Itachi? Did you make any friends at school today?" Mikoto turned her gaze to Itachi, whom Yu was holding by the hand.
"I... I made friends too, just like Brother."
"Mm, it seems Itachi is also very capable!" Mikoto patted Itachi's little head. She knew the personality of her second son; he was usually silent at home and kept his thoughts to himself.
"It seems Yu has been taking good care of his brother."
Mikoto gave Yu a gentle look before heading to the kitchen to bring out bowls and chopsticks, preparing to serve the two brothers.
"Where's Father? Why hasn't he returned yet?" Yu asked, puzzled, seeing his mother only bring out three sets of bowls and chopsticks.
"The Hokage called him away to discuss some matters." Mikoto handed the served rice to Yu and Itachi, answering casually.
"Did they say what it was about, Mother?" Yu pressed.
Mikoto's brow furrowed with a hint of worry. "It seems to be related to the clan's relocation."
Yu's eyes narrowed. Is the major event for the Uchiha finally arriving? A thousand thoughts raced through his mind, but he soon settled down to quietly enjoy the dinner his mother had prepared.
There were some things he did not want to burden his mother with, so he decided it would be better to talk to his father when he had the chance.
"By the banks of the Naka River, the graveyard of the Uchiha clan..."
Yu thought coldly to himself.
