"Right! Where are the crossbows? Raymond, take some men from the ranged attack squad and haul the crossbows farther away to assemble them!"
"My lord... the crossbows are on the carriage. They've already been assembled!" As he spoke, Raymond immediately ran to the nearby carriage and tore away the cowhide tarpaulin covering it.
As the tarp fell away, two fully assembled Siege Crossbows were revealed, laid neatly across a carriage.
"My lord, we were worried we might encounter enemies on the road, so we didn't dismantle the Siege Crossbows when we came. We just carried them straight onto the carriage!" Raymond promptly explained.
"You really are a damned genius!" Nalant was overjoyed. Now that they could skip the assembly process, it was practically heaven itself helping him.
Next, Nalant directly commanded the guards to set the two Siege Crossbows up in the open space, then arranged three carriages in front and to the sides as makeshift walls.
After all, Raymond and the others had no warhorses. When the time came, they could only use those three carriages as their defensive position.
Just as his arrangements were barely complete, Stella and the others were about to arrive as well.

"Move aside, quickly! Everyone, move to both sides!" Nalant immediately shouted at the crowd.
Though Stella and the others did not understand what Nalant meant, they heard his shout from more than three hundred meters away and quickly ran to either side, exposing the Northern Principality pursuers behind them.
The instant the Northern Principality pursuers were exposed, the ten guards of the ranged attack squad had already finished loading!
Seeing this, Nalant drew his longsword.
"Ranged attack squad, target the Northern Principality cavalry in the rear. Fire!"
