"Bache? Didn't the Sixth Battalion go to Giant Forest City?" the king asked, somewhat puzzled.
"Father!"
But before Nalant could answer after the king spoke, the princess spoke first.
"Father, Kay returned on Commander Bache's orders to report the situation. Let him brief you privately later!" Worried that news from the rear would spread and affect morale, the princess took the initiative to stop him.
"Mm, then let us settle the matter of the dueling contest first!" The king did not ask why and immediately nodded.
"Warriors of the various principalities, does anyone else wish to take the stage and compete?"
Faced with the king's question, the young nobles all lowered their heads.
Clearly, Mons had already made them shrink back in fear, and no one dared go up and humiliate themselves against Nalant, who had utterly crushed Mons in a single blow.
"Since there are none, I declare that today's dueling contest has come to an end. Today's final victor is Nicholas Kay!"
"As for the prize of the contest, the future queen of the Onyx Principality shall also belong to him!"
"Thank you for Your Majesty's grace!" Nalant immediately lowered his head and gave a bow.
Though the surrounding nobles were jealous, none said anything. Compared to Mons, Nalant was a winner they found far easier to accept.
Upon hearing those words, Natasha's entire body trembled violently, tears spilling from her eyes.
When Nalant had taken the stage, he had kept his back to Natasha the whole time to avoid being recognized by her and exposing any clues to the others.
Clearly, faced with the tragic fate awaiting her, even Natasha, usually so enchanting in every gesture, could not accept it calmly.
Originally, after winning, Nalant could have directly taken his "prize" back to enjoy at his leisure.
