The Sapphire Dragon had originally lived deep within a primeval wilderness forest for nearly three hundred years, until it encountered Anderson Sapphire, the ancestor of the current Grand Duke Sapphire.

When he petitioned the Blast Furnace Kingdom to carve out territory and establish a duchy, he was rejected by the royal family at the time and had no choice but to seek new lands. Thus, he chose a desolate, uninhabited region claimed as within the Eagle Kingdom's sphere of influence and founded a nation there. He had thought the Eagle Kingdom would not fall out with him over a barren patch of land.

Left with no alternative, Anderson fled a thousand miles atop the Sapphire Dragon. In the end, the White Cast Iron Dragon caught up with them at Blue Blood Mountain, and after a fierce battle, their blood rained upon the earth and formed Blue Blood Mountain.
Afterward, the grievously injured Sapphire Dragon crossed the seas and founded a nation among the overseas islands, swearing fealty to the Iron Ridge Kingdom and becoming a tributary state that paid tribute year after year.
