Closing the ship's log, Nigel Bark Roundshield began inspecting the crude camp established beside the wreckage of the Discovery. All around them stretched primeval forest. He had to maintain strict vigilance; if Magic Beasts crept close unnoticed, the crew's survival would be threatened.

Just then, he suddenly heard movement overhead, seemingly the sound of something slicing through the air.

Then, a thunderous boom rang out from the distant forest.

"What's going on?" Nigel and the others immediately tensed.

Unfortunately, with night fallen, they did not dare leave camp rashly to search the primeval forest. After a while, when no further sounds came, Nigel relaxed slightly and set aside the thought of investigating for the moment. He began eating a simple lunch with the knights—yet even this was tastier than the salted meat and pickled vegetables they had eaten at sea.

Sadly, there was none of the atmosphere of a campfire gathering. Not only did they have to remain on edge over the forest, they were also filled with anxiety toward this unknown world.

They had no idea what exactly had happened to them. In the blink of an eye, they had gone from the boundless sea to an endless forest, the distance traveled unknown.

They knew even less whether they had appeared on an island near the Great Whirlpool, or somewhere else in some far corner of the world.

"Let us observe a moment of silence for our fallen comrades." After setting out the crude tableware, Nigel gestured for everyone to bow their heads—of the Discovery's hundred crewmen, sixteen were missing, fifty-two dead, and only thirty-two had survived. Of those, seven were grievously injured and bedridden; whether they could pull through remained unknown.
