The Purple Copper Dragon crashed into the sea and gulped down several mouthfuls of salty water. Only after withdrawing the copper plating from its body did it barely struggle back into the air—before coming to the open sea for this dragon-slaying battle, these dragons had all learned basic swimming. Aside from Fire Dragons, those fire-element dragons, the other dragons could probably all learn to swim.
On its Dragon Tooth Platform, Loier had not broken free from his copper-plated state. He remained coated in a layer of purplish metal copper, his hand gripping a pitch-black dragon lance, still maintaining the posture he had held in life.
He was already dead.
Not a trace of life remained.
Yet the Purple Copper Dragon had not abandoned him. It merely flew sorrowfully into the sky, joined up with the White Cast Iron Dragon knight, and let out a tremendous roar.
"Loier!" Alex flew close to the Purple Copper Dragon and shouted.
There was no response.
Alex froze at once, a dreadful possibility coming to mind. Earlier, he had personally seen that transparent, crystal-like dragon extend a dragon lance from its back and stab Loier through the chest. In an instant, it had pulled the lance back out, then vanished without a trace.
"Loier!"
There was still no response to his second call.
"Roar!" The Purple Copper Dragon's roar was filled with desolation, making Alex understand even more clearly that Loier was dead—unbelievable as it was, that was indeed the truth.
"Impossible!"
Alex's face darkened, his rage reaching its peak. He and Loier—one a prince of the Eagle Kingdom, the other the Grand Duke of the Copper Grand Duchy—had known each other since childhood. They had even
