The barn doors were smashed open, and the temple knights scrambled out, rolling and crawling. Their silver armor was smeared with mud and blood, long stripped of its former splendor. They did not even dare look back, much less spit out any threats—the black-robed, silver-eyed man only had to stand there for their souls to tremble!
"Run, hurry up and run!" a knight roared hoarsely, his voice thick with fear.
"Back to the temple! Immediately!"
Several knights supported the priest.
His face was deathly pale, his lips trembling, yet he could not even form a complete sentence. His scepter had long since shattered, and his right hand was a mangled mess of flesh and blood. But what drove him closest to collapse was—Athena had not answered him!
The gods... had abandoned them?
That thought left everyone from the temple feeling as though they could barely breathe.
