During a break from cultivation, Zhao Tian walked out of the rear courtyard alone.
He did not go far, merely following the path up the rear mountain at an unhurried pace.
The mountain gate of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect was built along the mountainside. The rear mountain was a series of rolling hills, covered from peak to foot with all kinds of flowers and trees that remained verdant throughout the year.
It was now the turn of spring into summer. Wildflowers bloomed in abundance across the mountains, and the mountain breeze carried waves of fresh fragrance.
Zhao Tian followed the stone-paved path to a platform halfway up the mountain, where the view suddenly opened up.
From there, the entire Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect lay before his eyes. Buildings with white walls and gray-tiled roofs were scattered across the mountainside in orderly fashion. In the distance, mist curled around layers of mountains, like an unfolding ink-wash painting.
Zhao Tian stood at the edge of the platform with his hands clasped behind his back. As he gazed at the scenery before him, an indescribable feeling suddenly welled up inside him.
He had been in this world for six years.
From his initial fear and unease, to gradually adapting, and finally to completely becoming a part of it.
This world had martial souls, Soul Power, battles, and schemes against one another.
But it also had beautiful scenery, warm human connections, and people and things worth protecting.
He suddenly remembered a ci poem he had read in his previous life.
It was a famous work depicting the beauty of mountains and rivers. Every word and line was as delicate and moving as a painting. When he had read it back then, he had only thought it beautiful, never truly experiencing the artistic conception within it.
Now, standing here and gazing at the mountains and rivers before him, those lines naturally surfaced in his mind.
"Zhao Tian! Zhao Tian! Where did you run off to?"
Ning Rongrong's voice came from behind him.
Zhao Tian turned around and saw Ning Rongrong running up, panting heavily, her little face covered in sweat.
"Why did you come all the way here? Rongrong has been looking everywhere for you!"
Ning Rongrong ran up to him and braced her hands on her knees, taking several breaths before raising her head. She followed his gaze and froze for a moment.
"Wow... It's so beautiful..."
She was also stunned by the scenery before her.
From this angle, the entire Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect was shrouded in a thin veil of mist, like an immortal palace in the clouds.
"Zhao Tian, did you come all the way up here just to look at the scenery?"
Ning Rongrong asked curiously.
Zhao Tian nodded. "I was tired from cultivating, so I came out for a walk."
"Then you should've called Rongrong! Rongrong wanted to see it too!"
Ning Rongrong pouted and let out an unhappy hum.
Zhao Tian smiled. "I'll call you next time."
"That's more like it!"
Ning Rongrong nodded in satisfaction. Then she tugged on Zhao Tian's sleeve and dragged him to the railing at the very edge of the platform, rising onto her tiptoes to gaze into the distance.
"Zhao Tian, look! That's our sect's main hall! That's the cultivation ground! And that's where Rongrong lives!"
She excitedly pointed everything out to him one by one, as if she had discovered some hidden treasure.
Zhao Tian stood beside her. Seeing her excitement, the corners of his mouth lifted slightly.
Just then, a mountain breeze swept over. Flowers and trees covering the mountains swayed with the wind, rising and falling like waves.
Petals were carried into the air, swirling and dancing before landing on their shoulders and in their hair.
Ning Rongrong let out a little cry and reached up to brush the petal from her hair, but no matter how she tried, she could not knock it away.
Seeing her like that, Zhao Tian suddenly had an idea.
"Rongrong, go get me some paper and a brush."
"Eh? Now?"
"Mm. Go get them."
Although Ning Rongrong was puzzled, she obediently ran down the mountain. Before long, she came back carrying a roll of rice paper, brushes, and ink.
"Here! What do you need these for?"
Zhao Tian did not answer. He took the paper and brush, walked to the stone table in the center of the platform, spread out the rice paper, ground the ink, and picked up the brush.
Ning Rongrong curiously leaned over, tilting her head as she watched him.
"Zhao Tian, are you going to paint?"
"Not paint. Write a poem."
After saying that, Zhao Tian dipped the brush in ink and lowered its tip onto the paper. The ink spread across the surface.
Ning Rongrong's eyes widened at once, and she held her breath, not daring to make a sound.
Zhao Tian's brush flew across the paper, its strokes winding like dragons and snakes as lines of writing appeared on the rice paper.
He was writing the first half of Su Shi's Linjiang Immortal: Drinking at Dongpo, Sober and Drunk Again, but moved by the scenery, he made a few slight changes, incorporating several lines into the landscape before him.
A moment later, Zhao Tian set down his brush and took half a step back. Looking at what he had written, he nodded in satisfaction.
Ning Rongrong hurried over and read it aloud, word by word.
"Mountain colors blur, emerald spilling like a stream; misty waves vast, clouds drifting free. The wind comes, flowers fall upon my robe and sleeves; at dusk, birds return to the secluded valley."
"Leaning on the rail, my eyes reach far to the horizon; looking back, how many autumns have passed over the green hills? Do not say this body belongs not to my soil—Where This Heart Finds Peace Is My State."
After finishing, Ning Rongrong fell silent for a moment, then suddenly raised her head, her eyes filled with shock.
"Zhao Tian... You wrote this just now?"
"Mm."
Zhao Tian nodded.
Ning Rongrong opened and closed her mouth, wanting to say something, but in the end, she managed only one sentence.
"You... how did you do it? How could you write such a wonderful poem?"
Zhao Tian smiled without answering.
He could hardly say that it had been written by an ancient sage in his previous life and that he had merely borrowed it.
"As long as Rongrong likes it."
"Of course I like it! Rongrong may not understand poetry especially well, but Rongrong knows whether something is well written!"
Ning Rongrong grew flustered and pointed at the poem.
"Look at this line, 'Where This Heart Finds Peace Is My State.' Doesn't it mean that you regard the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect as your own home?"
"It's so well written! Rongrong is going to take it to show Dad!"
As she spoke, she carefully picked up the rice paper, afraid of wrinkling it, then turned and ran down the mountain.
"Rongrong, slow down..."
Before Zhao Tian could finish, Ning Rongrong had already dashed away.
He shook his head helplessly and turned his gaze back toward the distant mountains.
The mountain breeze continued, and flowers fell like rain.
He suddenly felt that perhaps his days in the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect would be even more exciting than he had imagined.
Half an hour later, Ning Rongrong charged into Ning Fengzhi's study with the poem in her hands.
"Dad! Dad! Look, Zhao Tian wrote another poem!"
Ning Fengzhi was reviewing the sect's documents. Hearing his daughter's voice, he raised his head, took the sheet of rice paper, and looked down at it.
His gaze swept across the paper, then stopped.
"Do not say this body belongs not to my soil; Where This Heart Finds Peace Is My State..."
Ning Fengzhi murmured the two lines, his fingers tightening slightly around the rice paper.
He remained silent for a long time before raising his head and looking at Zhao Tian, who stood by the door.
Ning Rongrong had just dragged Zhao Tian over, and he had not even had time to sit down.
"Tian'er, this poem... did you really write it?"
Ning Fengzhi's voice was slightly hoarse.
Zhao Tian nodded. "I was looking at the scenery in the rear mountains and was moved by what I saw, so I wrote it down."
Ning Fengzhi gazed deeply at him, his eyes filled with complicated emotions.
There was shock, gratification, and a trace of emotion that was difficult to detect.
"Where This Heart Finds Peace Is My State..."
He repeated the line, then laughed.
"Good, good! What a fine 'Where This Heart Finds Peace Is My State.'"
"Tian'er, being able to write such a line proves that you truly have the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect in your heart."
"As your teacher, I am very gratified."
Zhao Tian bowed slightly. "You flatter me, Teacher. I was merely moved by the scenery."
Ning Fengzhi waved his hand and carefully put the poem away.
"I'll have someone mount and frame this poem and hang it in my study."
"Let it remind me every moment that I, Ning Fengzhi, have taken in an excellent disciple."
Seeing the gratification on Ning Fengzhi's face, Zhao Tian felt a slight warmth in his heart.
Although he had expressed his feelings through the lines of a poem written by someone from the past, the words "Where This Heart Finds Peace Is My State" truly reflected what he felt.
The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect had already become his true home in this world.
