Before the Pope Palace, as the judgment came to an end, representatives of the various powers began to depart one after another.
In front of the magnificent hall, only the condemned evil Soul Masters remained, kneeling in a row. The Soul Power restraints on their bodies left them unable to move.
Just then, Lin Ze'an slowly walked out of the Pope Palace.
Bibi Dong said to Lin Ze'an, "I've fulfilled my promise to you. I'll leave the rest to you."
Lin Ze'an nodded and bowed. "Farewell, Your Holiness the Pope."
Bibi Dong gave a quiet hum and said no more. She turned and walked back into the Pope Palace.
Yue Guan came over to Lin Ze'an and patted him on the shoulder. "My disciple, follow your heart. Whatever you decide to do, your master will support you."
At that, Lin Ze'an paused, then looked at Yue Guan and said with a smile, "Don't worry, Master. I know what I'm doing."
Was something different about Master today?
But he soon figured it out.
After absorbing the Immortal Herb, his master had gained a Martial Soul Domain, the Golden Stamen Heaven-Reaching Domain, and was now just one step away from reaching level 97 in Soul Power.
That was why he'd sounded so sure of himself when he said, "Your master will support you."
After Yue Guan left, Lin Ze'an's gaze swept across the faces of the criminals, finally settling on Gu Zhi, the evil Soul Master he hated more than anyone.
This was the man who had attacked the village and brutally murdered its people—and Lin Ze'an's father.
Standing before Gu Zhi, he lowered his head slightly and said with a sigh, "I used to be lost. For a long time, I kept wondering..."
"Should I kill you for revenge, or respect life and let you face the judgment you deserve?"
At that, Gu Zhi glanced up at Lin Ze'an, unsure what he meant.
"But then..." Lin Ze'an considered it for a moment before continuing. "When I thought about it, I realized some things don't necessarily need to be settled with bloodshed."
"Ha!" Gu Zhi sneered and raised his head, his face full of disdain. "I know who you are now."
"You're that little Soul Ancestor's son, the one they were talking about, aren't you?"
"Who would've thought? I only killed a worm, and I ended up falling to a little brat like you!"
He struggled to stand, but the Soul Power restraints on his body let him raise his head only slightly. "You think you're something special? You just got lucky!"
"How could someone with your talent understand us? The pain of being unable to advance because your talent has reached its limit!"
"If you hadn't joined Spirit Hall, what right would you have to stand in front of me and say all this?"
Listening to him, Lin Ze'an shook his head. His emerald-green eyes reflected the man's contorted face. "Is it really the way you say it is?"
After Gu Zhi had been captured, his records had arrived along with him.
He was born in Suotuo City, had an Innate Soul Power of level 9, and possessed the Devil Bat Martial Soul.
With talent like that, he was one of the greatest geniuses on the entire Douluo Continent.
Whether it was Spirit Hall or any other sect, they would have nurtured him well if he'd joined.
And yet he had still chosen this path.
"You're right. I can't understand you."
"But why force the pain you claim to feel onto other people?"
"Your talent already puts you above countless others. Why aren't you satisfied?"
"How innocent were all those people you slaughtered?"
"They had no feud with you, never hurt you, and had never even seen your face."
"And yet you used their blood to satisfy your twisted desires."
Why did he have to use other people's blood to warm himself?
Gu Zhi snorted. "I did what I did. Even in Slaughter City, I could still carve out a place for myself."
Looking at him like that, Lin Ze'an sighed softly and raised his eyes to the sky. "Forget it. There's no point saying more."
"Carve out a place for yourself in Slaughter City? You probably won't get the chance."
After what had happened last time, once he obtained his third Soul Ring, he'd become capable of unleashing wide-area skills.
Under Gu Zhi's disdainful gaze, Lin Ze'an slowly raised both hands. A dense surge of life force poured out of his body.
His feet slowly lifted off the ground. He drifted backward, then stopped, hovering in midair.
Everyone present was stunned by the sight.
A Soul Elder could actually float through the air by his own power?
As everyone watched in shock, Mo Ruier and her partner, Glass, slowly appeared behind Lin Ze'an.
Three Soul Rings—purple, purple, and black—appeared beneath his feet.
The evil Soul Master who had been swaggering a moment ago was struck speechless. His legs gave way, and he fell backward.
How was this possible? What kind of Martial Soul was that? How could anyone have such terrifying Soul Ring configurations...
The Palace Guard Knights nearby stared wide-eyed at the scene, unable to believe what they were seeing.
"No... This can't be..." Gu Zhi muttered, his voice full of disbelief. "Level thirty... How can anyone have a Ten Thousand Year Soul Ring..."
Why was he so lucky? What made him deserve it?
Lin Ze'an paid no attention to the stunned people below. His emerald-green eyes lit up as he raised his hands, palms facing the sky.
In an instant, the heavens changed!
The clear sky was suddenly dyed the green of life. Thick clouds began to churn, slowly gathering into a gigantic vortex.
Before long, its shadow covered all of Spirit City.
The vortex was like a colossal wheel of life, turning slowly in the sky.
After returning to the Pope Palace, Bibi Dong had originally planned to summon Hu Liena.
But before she could give the order, she was dumbfounded. As the moments passed, an ever-thicker aura of life began to seep into the hall.
"Lin Ze'an? What is he doing?"
Bibi Dong drew a deep breath, suppressing her shock, then rose and walked out of the Pope Palace.
But the instant she stepped outside, her gaze was drawn to the strange sight in the sky.
After a moment of stunned silence, she stared at Lin Ze'an hovering in midair, unable to believe her eyes.
What was this? How could a level-thirty Soul Elder like Lin Ze'an create such a huge commotion?
Elsewhere, Ning Fengzhi and Sword Douluo had only just walked a short distance when they sensed something strange in the sky.
They jerked their heads up and looked at the green vortex hanging over Spirit City.
"Uncle Jian, this..." Ning Fengzhi turned to Sword Douluo, his voice full of shock.
What was Spirit Hall up to? First they'd held a trial and brought the Six-Winged Angel back into the world, and now they were making a spectacle like this?
Sword Douluo was also somewhat stunned. He looked back toward the Pope Palace, at the center of the vortex.
"This celestial phenomenon..." Sword Douluo furrowed his brow, a rare trace of solemnity appearing on his face.
He carefully circulated his Soul Power, sensing the aura coming from the sky.
But no matter how he tried, all he could feel was a dense aura of life and a faint pressure.
