Background

Rose is the old King of Haagen-Dazs's thirteenth daughter. Her mother died early, she has no relatives to support her, and influential figures in the Royal Capital openly disdain her. Unlike the better-backed royal contenders, she lives in an undersized manor in a remote southern district of the Imperial City. 19 20

Her vulnerable position makes her attractive to outside political actors. Both Su Changge and Xue Qinghe select Rose as a potential vehicle in the succession struggle: Su because she is the least supported princess, and Xue Qinghe because her lack of an existing power base makes her susceptible to alliance. 19 20

Appearance

Rose is portrayed as a delicate young woman with an innocent, sheltered bearing. Su Changge repeatedly compares her to a “little white flower” and a porcelain doll. 20 21

Personality

Initially, Rose is gentle, naïve, and deeply reluctant to pursue power. She refuses Xue Qinghe's first offer to support her claim, believing that her siblings' greater foundations would make a reign impossible to preserve and fearing that she would only become a burden. 20

Su Changge forces her to confront the danger of neutrality in a royal purge: a defeated princess could be controlled, politically married off, or killed. Frightened by this prospect, Rose chooses to fight for the throne rather than surrender her future to the victor. 21

Despite entering the succession conflict, she retains a reputation for purity and filial piety. She personally tends to the dying old King in the palace, accepting menial work to build support among royal relatives and officials. 22 24 The violence surrounding the old King's death leaves her fearful and increasingly reliant on Su Changge for protection. 27 30

• Su Changge — Her principal political backer, military protector, and the effective manager of her faction. He convinces her to enter the throne struggle, rescues her during her escape from the Royal City, and later becomes her intimate partner. 21 22 24 27 28

Story Role / Major Arcs

Entry into the succession struggle

Rose initially refuses to contend for the throne, even after Xue Qinghe promises to remove threats and secure her position. Su Changge persuades her that refusing to act will not spare her from the conflict; she then asks Xue Qinghe for aid and promises that Haagen-Dazs will follow his lead after her accession. 20 21

Under the alliance's division of duties, Rose returns to the royal palace to care for the old King while Xue Qinghe gathers resources and Su Changge handles operational matters for the faction. 22

One of the four royal candidates

Following First Prince Snyder's death and a month of assassinations among the royal family, Rose becomes one of four remaining major claimants alongside Ente, Zoki, and Alice. Her image as a caring, filial daughter earns her support from some royal core members, high-ranking officials, and remnants of defeated royal factions. 23 24

While Rose holds the political title, Su Changge becomes the faction's dominant administrator, handling its forces, officials, and resources. 24

Escape from the Royal City

The old King's unexpected death leaves Rose exposed. Her remaining guards escort her toward the southern gate, but thousands of soldiers and most of her spirit-master protectors are killed during the retreat. 27

At the gate, Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan Spirit Saints corner Rose and eliminate or rout her surviving defenders. Su Changge and Pufferfish Douluo arrive before she is killed, defeat the attackers, and take her to Murong Earldom. 27 28

Ascension

From Murong Earldom, Rose's side marches on the Royal City with Su Changge's ten-thousand-man army. Her three rival siblings initially dismiss the force, then suffer catastrophic losses against its muskets, trenches, and Divine Fire Thunderbolt Cannons. 28 29

After the rival factions' night raid fails, the Royal City's internal factions seize Ente, Zoki, and Alice and surrender the city. Rose takes control of the Royal City, ending the two-month struggle for the throne and ascending as Haagen-Dazs's monarch. 31
