After reaping the benefits of the Spirit Sacrifice Ritual, Lin Sheng turned his attention to Sir Cayman once more.

He had obtained something as valuable as the Spirit Sacrifice Ritual from one of the man's female servants alone. What might he gain from Cayman himself, the true master of the mansion?

Lin Sheng was filled with anticipation.

He gently pushed open the iron gate of Valen Temple, then broke into a quick jog toward Sir Cayman's mansion. He opened the door with practiced ease and went inside.

He skirted the fountain and walked up to the front door.

The owl on the door slowly spread its wings, and the door swung open.

Lin Sheng took a deep breath and quickly pushed it open.

The inside was pitch-black, darker than the last time he had come. Only a faint patch of moonlight from the window illuminated a small area of carpet.

The first things Lin Sheng saw were the toppled bookshelf by the entrance and Enni's body lying on the floor.

Beside the corpse lay a black sword he knew all too well: the Elite Rotten Longsword he had wielded before.

He walked over and picked up the black sword, then heightened his guard and cautiously looked toward the stairs to the second floor.

Enni had leaped down from the second floor last time.

And that Perverted Axeman might very well have come down from there, too.

He started forward with the sword in hand. Before he could reach the stairs, a fierce gust suddenly crashed down on him from above.

He immediately felt his breathing constrict. It was as if the air around him had been sucked away in an instant.

Without time to think, he threw himself into a sideways roll, tumbling several times
