His meeting with the temple bishop came even sooner than Lin Sheng had expected.

He had only just returned to the castle and finished dinner. Before he even had the chance to properly talk with his family, he received a summons from Oudalien, bishop of the Light Shrine.

"A summons? He means for me to go over there and speak with him in person right now?" Lin Sheng asked in surprise. By all rights, he too was a devout follower of the Lady of Magic.

The other party's attitude and posture clearly showed that he had no intention of negotiating.

He was merely a regional bishop, not even an archbishop, yet he dared put on airs before him.

The messenger was a knight from the Light Shrine. Hearing this, he instead looked at Lin Sheng with some puzzlement.

"Oer, Lord of Light, is the continent's sole god of light, the god of purification and reproduction. His status even surpasses that of many chief gods. What is wrong with summoning a level-six mid-stage mage?"

Yet he knew in his heart that this was the Light Shrine's stance, and also a sign of their wariness and warning toward him.

"Of course, you may choose not to go. However, the temple may be displeased with your decision and revise its original plans for Verli Territory accordingly." The messenger knight calmly stated a fact.

Lin Sheng understood the implications behind his words.

The Lord of Light had a great influence on the harvests from the territory's crops and farmland. As the god of reproduction, his influence was also extremely extensive. Refusing to give face truly might not be an option.

After delivering his message, the messenger knight turned and left.
