They calmed their subordinates.
After leaving the meeting room, Uchiha Genmei was just about to head home when an unexpected visitor stopped him before he could leave the Police Force.
The visitor said that Elder Kagami was waiting for him in his office and had something to discuss.
"What a bother. Got it. You can go." With that, he turned and headed for Kagami Uchiha's office.
A little while later.
Looking at the familiar door before him, he felt a little sentimental. He had been here once before, and now he was back again.
Kagami Uchiha really did like discussing things in his office. No wonder he was a classmate of the Third Hokage's; they both liked doing things this way.
He pushed the door open and glanced inside.
Uchiha Genmei said, somewhat surprised:
"Clan Head Hi-no-Kaku is here too? I'm curious what I've done to make you both take this so seriously."
A handsome, middle-aged man with tea-colored hair nodded at Uchiha Genmei.
He spoke:
"Genmei-kun has done something of such importance. When I heard you'd returned to the Police Force, I, as its director, couldn't just go home yet."
"I saw that Kagami wanted to summon you, Genmei-kun, and got curious, so I came to take a look too."
Hearing Uchiha Hi-no-Kaku's words, Kagami Uchiha shook his head.
He explained helplessly:
"Genmei-kun, did Senior Setsuna suffer a serious loss at your hands?"
At that,
Uchiha Genmei raised an eyebrow.
He said bluntly:
"If you have something to say, just say it. Don't waste time on things that don't matter."
Hearing Genmei's words, Kagami Uchiha rubbed his fingers together and thought for a moment, as though he'd made up his mind.
He looked up.
His expression was serious:
"Genmei-kun, you certainly don't mince words. Then I'll speak plainly: stop."
Silence fell over the room.
The flames of the lamps flickered, and the tense atmosphere coiled around everyone like a venomous snake.
Kagami Uchiha and Uchiha Hi-no-Kaku
stood by the window,
watching Uchiha Genmei's figure recede into the distance.
"Lord Hi-no-Kaku, let's join forces."
"Join forces? Do you even know what you're saying, Kagami?"
Thinking back to his conversation with Uchiha Genmei, Kagami Uchiha shuddered.
No one in this world had ever explained the true nature of war so thoroughly!
Not even his own teacher!
That terrifying little brat was right.
War was politics carried on by other means, and its ultimate goal was to gain political status and economic benefits.
That was nothing like the "theory of hatred" that shinobi now treated as the truth. Those words were like the dawn of a new age, opening his eyes to a whole new world.
What pained him was that someone with such foresight cared only about one clan?!
Just look at that detestable brat.
What had he said?
That he was striving only to develop his clan? That family came before the village and the country?
Preposterous!
What of putting one's house in order, governing the country, and bringing peace to the world?
First put one's house in order and make the clan prosper, then think about the village? And only after that, the Shinobi World?
His words made a lot of sense. To be honest, Kagami felt this theory was more advanced than any other.
But if he accepted it, what became of the Will of Fire, passed down for three generations?
That brat was far too dangerous!
At the thought,
he fixed Uchiha Hi-no-Kaku with a fierce stare.
He said in a cold voice:
"Genmei-kun's ideas are far too dangerous, Clan Head!"
Uchiha Hi-no-Kaku stood stunned for a moment, wondering what would happen if they kept following Genmei-kun's ideas.
Would the clan grow stronger?
He didn't know.
But Konoha's balance would certainly be shattered.
Now that he thought about that brat's terrifying ideas,
they really were right.
But did that mean they had to follow them?
Not necessarily.
After surviving the Warring States period and the Shinobi World Wars, all he wanted was a peaceful, stable life.
He didn't like change.
The image of that peerless man flashed through his mind.
He let out a long sigh:
"How did it come to this?"
Bathed in the last glow of the setting sun,
Uchiha Genmei walked home, gazing up at the sky until the final streak of crimson light disappeared.
He sighed inwardly.
He was already this strong, so there was no need to hide his thoughts from Senior Kagami and Senior Hi-no-Kaku.
He had spoken his mind freely, and watched their expressions change from shock to calm. He knew they would basically end up on the opposite side from him.
Kagami Uchiha,
in the original story of his previous life, had barely made a ripple. Just another small-time nobody.
Uchiha Hi-no-Kaku,
a mere watchdog, not worth working with.
The clan's rampant use of Izanagi was a real headache. He didn't want every jonin turning into a one-eyed man.
What should he do?
He stood there and thought for a moment.
He sighed:
"If only I could brainwash them in an instant."
A flash of inspiration.
Brainwash them in an instant?
I've got it!
Early the next morning.
The atmosphere at the breakfast table was rather heavy.
After setting down her chopsticks,
Uchiha Chiri spoke frankly.
"Genmei-kun, I'll always stand behind you, no matter what lies ahead."
He swallowed his food.
Uchiha Genmei looked at the girl before him, her gaze resolute.
He smiled faintly:
"Thanks, Chiri. Lord Hi-no-Kaku must have told you something last night."
"Mm."
He saw the worry between her brows.
He reassured her:
"It's all right. Trust me, Chiri."
After breakfast,
he went to the Konoha Library.
After searching for a long time,
he found the scroll he needed among the Sarutobi Clan's historical records.
"I knew it. The Senju Clan, who controlled the Hokage Position, wouldn't keep their unsavory history here."
"But the Sarutobi Clan, their allies, probably thought it was a storybook and put it here to fill up the shelves."
"Tsk, tsk... They sure wrote it up in a mysterious way."
No wonder that chuunibyo who made those awful games, and that scientist who couldn't get funding,
had found the information so easily. It was displayed in the library as a storybook. You'd have to be blind not to find it.
Those two made games so badly they might as well have used their feet. They'd taken a chance despite their doubts—and actually succeeded.
He put away the scroll.
On the way back,
Uchiha Genmei fell into thought.
Uchiha Hikari had been stripped of her name by the clan because her ability, Yachihoko, was too powerful, then trained as a weapon for the decisive battle.
Tsk, tsk...
The Uchiha of that era had been downright insane, treating their own Mangekyo wielder this way—and she was a girl, too.
The Uchiha now were just as arrogant because of Izanagi.
If Senju Tobirama could break through the dimensional barrier in his previous life,
he'd probably yell, "Black Zetsu, speak up!"
He shook off the jumble of thoughts.
Yachihoko was a troublesome ability.
That girl had said so herself in the story:
When she was sealed away,
she had hated the Uchiha,
and hated this world.
Using her would be a little troublesome. He was an Uchiha, and if he broke the seal, she might unleash something huge on him right away.
Looks like I'll have to pay a price.
Back home,
he sat cross-legged on the bed.
Uchiha Genmei made up his mind.
Divine Blade, help me!
His incredible talent gave him an instant revelation.
A moment later,
"It's done!"
Looking at the new skill on his status panel,
he felt utterly exhilarated.
The information about Susanoo on his status panel had changed.
Sharingan: LV5 (Super Kage)
Susanoo (Spirit Weapons—Tsumugari Great Blade, Divine Sake Gourd, Yasakani no Magatama)
Aura: 26
Yasakani no Magatama
A spirit weapon of protection. It could defend against any attack that invaded the mind or soul.
Spending fifty points of Aura stung a little, but when he thought of Izanami, Kotoamatsukami, and Yachihoko, techniques that could change people's minds,
Uchiha Genmei still felt it was worth it.
Everything was ready. All that was missing was the east wind.
A few days later.
Inside a cave that sloped underground,
"Lord Genmei, why does this feel like listening to a storybook? It's been hundreds of years. Even if she was sealed away, she should be nothing but bones by now."
Hearing Uchiha Naka's confusion.
Uchiha Genmei turned around.
He replied:
"Watch closely. The Senju learned sealing techniques from the Uzumaki. Don't underestimate them."
A sealing core came into view in the cavern, its floor covered in runes.
"We're here. Get ready to undo the seal."
