5. The French Army's active-duty forces must not exceed 50,000 men, and its militia reserves must not exceed 100,000. The army was forbidden from equipping tanks, armored vehicles, or artillery with a caliber exceeding 100 mm. The navy's establishment must not exceed 5,000 personnel; capital ships must not exceed 5,000 tons displacement, and the total tonnage of warships must not exceed 50,000 tons. France was forbidden from developing any air power, including airships and aircraft.
