The mine tunnel was a complete mess. The ice layers had collapsed, and Pang Qingfeng, Yun Linran, Su Wan, and the other two stood back-to-back in a battle formation, barely holding on.
Their opponents were, astonishingly, two demons.
The two demons stood over ten feet tall, their skin black as charcoal, as though it could absorb all light. Under the eerie blue glow reflected by the ice crystals, they appeared even more sinister.
A vertical third eye grew in the center of their foreheads, while a pair of fleshy wings covered in strange demonic markings extended from their backs. Though the wings were not fully spread, they exuded a heart-palpitating demonic aura.
The demons' bodies were incredibly tough. They caught the flying swords with their bare hands, and when the swords struck the claws on their hands, they produced piercing metallic clangs.
The two demons were impossible to distinguish by appearance alone. Only the colors of their wings differed—one blue and one red. The blue-winged one was male, while the red-winged one was female. Clearly, this pair of demons were husband and wife.
Pang Qingfeng and the others' domain divine abilities were also completely ineffective. When faced with divine ability attacks, the two demons flapped their wings and wrapped themselves up tightly, like blue and red balls of light encased in cocoons. Every divine ability attack that landed on them vanished strangely.
Most fatal of all, the third eyes on the demons' foreheads occasionally fired gray rays that warped space itself. Wherever the rays passed, even ten-thousand-year ice was corroded and melted away. When Su Wan and the others' defensive artifacts were struck by the rays, they were corroded and destroyed within moments. The five could only hold on through their seamless coordination, but danger surrounded them on all sides.
