With all preparations complete, Great Qin began cultivating flying swords.
First, they found an enormous stretch of flat land and laid down two formations. One was a grand spirit-gathering formation, which absorbed the boundless spiritual energy from the surroundings for the Five Elements Sword Embryos to absorb, allowing them to contain spiritual energy themselves.
The other was a soul-splitting formation. Just as its name implied, it divided a complete soul into separate portions and injected them into the Five Elements Sword Embryos.
These two formations were the first things that had to be set up, as well as the most fundamental. They covered an area tens of thousands of li across, making their scale truly immense.
Next came the Five Elements Sword Embryos themselves. The materials Great Qin had gathered were all the most ordinary Five Elements materials, but with such vast quantities, they could use them however they pleased.
They consisted of five materials: refined black iron, rootwood copper, water ore, flint steel, and earth spirit ore. They were all metals, yet each contained the power of one of the five elements—metal, wood, water, fire, and earth.
After gathering the five materials, Great Qin's Forging masters and talisman masters finally had work to do.
Following Zhao Fu's orders, they fused the five metals together and forged them into massive swords two and a half meters long and one chi wide. A sword-shaped hollow had to be left within each greatsword, connected to the hilt, so that one could see into the sword's interior from the hilt.
The talisman masters also carved countless incantation runes across the blades, making the swords appear imposing and domineering, with an air of mystery and profound profundity.
These were the Five Elements Sword Embryos. Nor were they one-use items; in other words, they would
