Upon arriving at the main hall, they found a bald old man who had indulged too deeply in wine and women sitting in a chair. He wore a white robe patterned with white designs.
The bald old man said lazily, "I heard you had something to see me about. What is it?"
Zhao Fu smiled. "It is a precious treasure. I ask that Your Excellency the Divine Envoy have the others leave."
A flicker of interest appeared on the bald old man's face. "All of you, leave!"
Several guards obeyed and exited the hall, closing all the doors behind them.
The bald old man looked at Zhao Fu and asked, "What treasure? Take it out quickly!"
Zhao Fu slowly opened his cloak, and countless blood-colored insects poured forth—centipedes, scorpions, ants, earthworms, beetles, maggots—surging rapidly toward the bald old man.
The bald old man was startled. Before he could react, countless insect beasts flooded over his body. They crazily burrowed into him as he struggled and let out agonized screams.
Zhao Fu released a barrier, cutting off those screams.
Countless insect beasts entered the bald old man's body. His eyes became hollow, and he lay there like a corpse. His body was now under Zhao Fu's control, yet Zhao Fu could make him appear exactly as he had before, without the slightest visible change.
Zhao Fu looked at him and said, "Give me the position of Temple Master."
The bald old man respectfully replied, "The position of Temple Master cannot be transferred at will. First, one must become a Divine Envoy. Second, one's divine power must be raised by one level."
Zhao Fu asked, "How does one become a Divine Envoy?"
The bald old man answered, "By receiving the baptism of divine light!"
