Volume One, Chapter Sixty-Four
The innkeeper downstairs revealed a sinister grin and wrapped an arm around his wife. "What do you think of that living person who just checked in?"
The innkeeper's wife said seductively, "He seems ordinary to me. I wonder how he tastes."
The innkeeper said with a smile, "Even if the taste is ordinary, he's still fresh. In a while, use the Bewitching Eye to knock him out. I'll prepare the tools. Tonight, we're going to have a proper feast. It's been a long time since we last ate like this."
The innkeeper's wife giggled sweetly. "Got it!"
The innkeeper's wife came outside Zhao Fu's room and took out a palm-sized porcelain bottle. After pulling out the stopper, a faint wisp of white smoke drifted out. She blew lightly, sending the white smoke floating into the room.
The innkeeper's wife listened for a moment, then deftly opened the door. It seemed she had done this sort of thing many times before.
Seeing Zhao Fu on the bed, she walked over. Curious about the still-cloaked Zhao Fu, she reached out and removed his cloak, revealing his flawless face—so captivating that no one could look away.
The innkeeper's wife's heart began to race, her breathing quickened. She truly could not bear to eat such a perfect man.
Zhao Fu slowly opened his eyes and looked at the innkeeper's wife before him. In a place like this, how could Zhao Fu possibly sleep without keeping his guard up?
The innkeeper's wife was startled. "You weren't unconscious?"
Zhao Fu simply pressed her down.
After waiting downstairs for some time, the innkeeper found it strange that his wife had yet to come down. He picked up a butcher's knife and headed to the second floor.
Then he heard something, and rage flared
