Volume One, Chapter 359
Hai Kang smiled. "Do you think I'll agree?"
The old man had no desire to die. He tried to get up and flee, but immediately fell back to the ground. He had no strength left to escape.
Seeing the old man's miserable state, Hai Kang felt immensely pleased. He raised his sword, ready to kill the old man.
Pfft!
A sound rang out as a sword suddenly pierced through Hai Kang's chest, blood spraying everywhere. Hai Kang stared in shock at the person who had appeared behind him—it was Zhao Fu.
Zhao Fu had been the one to leak the information to Hai Kang. Hai Kang thought everything was under his control and had played along with the scheme to kill the old man, only to remain in Zhao Fu's palm all along. And Zhao Fu's goal was not merely to kill Hai Kang, but the old man as well.
Furious, Hai Kang turned and slashed his sword at Zhao Fu.
Zhao Fu smiled as he pulled out his sword and stepped back, evading the strike.
The old man looked at Zhao Fu happily. "It's great that you came! As long as you kill him, that city will be yours."
"Idiot," Hai Kang said coldly. "You still don't know that he intends to kill both of us."
The old man's expression turned ugly, but he still refused to believe it. He did not want to die.
Zhao Fu charged toward Hai Kang. Hai Kang had already been severely wounded, so Zhao Fu had no reason to fear him. Hai Kang gathered his power and attacked Zhao Fu.
Hai Kang thrust his sword at Zhao Fu's throat.
Zhao Fu tilted his body aside. Hai Kang swung his sword again, but Zhao Fu blocked it with his own.
