Seeing the shock on the Grand Elder's face, Hayato understood that his wish to pursue further training was about to be granted.
"It must have been a few days ago," Hayato said slowly, feigning a thoughtful expression.
A few days ago? Wasn't that right when Hayato first started at the Ninja Academy? The Grand Elder sighed inwardly, marveling at how quickly time flies.
Recalling the moment Hayato was born, already possessing the Two-Tomoe Sharingan, the Grand Elder had sensed that his grandson was destined for greatness; awakening the Three-Tomoe Sharingan was merely a matter of time.
However, he never imagined that day would arrive so soon.
Three years old. What was he doing at three? Probably playing with mud with his friends.
The Grand Elder took a deep breath, struggling to compose himself as he looked at Hayato.
"Hayato, since that is the case, is there anything specific you wish to learn?"
This time, he intended to listen to Hayato's thoughts first, tailoring his instruction to help him grow more effectively.
Upon hearing this, a flicker of excitement crossed Hayato's eyes, and he answered without hesitation, "Grandfather, I want to learn ninjutsu other than Fire Release, as well as our Uchiha Clan's Shurikenjutsu and the Shadow Clone Technique."
Of course, in his mind, the most crucial one was the Shadow Clone Technique. This jutsu was practically a cheat code, capable of playing a massive role in both training and combat.
The Grand Elder frowned slightly at this, saying earnestly, "Hayato, the most suitable nature transformation for our Uchiha Clan is Fire Release. Mastering this one is, in fact, far more powerful than any other."
However, Hayato had his own plans. He knew he possessed an affinity for all five elements; if he only practiced Fire Release, wouldn't that talent go to waste?
Furthermore, while the destructive power of Fire Release was great, its actual combat record was often laughable—frequently resulting in nothing but smoke and no real damage.
Therefore, he replied firmly, "Grandfather, I believe I can develop in multiple directions; there is no need to limit myself to just Fire Release."
After hearing Hayato's response, the Grand Elder pondered for a moment before standing up, taking a piece of Chakra Induction Paper from his pocket, and handing it to Hayato.
"Learning ninjutsu outside of Fire Release is no easy task, and not every nature transformation can be mastered with ease. Come, Hayato, try channeling your chakra into this paper and let me see your affinities."
Hayato nodded, took the paper, and channeled his internal chakra into it.
Before long, the paper split down the middle. The upper-left section ignited into flames, while the lower-left became crumpled; the upper-right section turned damp, and the lower-right disintegrated entirely.
This result filled the Grand Elder's heart with pure joy.
His grandson was truly extraordinary; at only three years old, he already possessed all five chakra natures: Wind, Fire, Lightning, Water, and Earth.
He couldn't help but exclaim, "As expected of my grandson!"
Hayato, standing to the side, feigned ignorance and asked, "Grandfather, how was the result? What kind of ninjutsu can I learn?"
The Grand Elder snapped out of his reverie, walked over to Hayato, patted his shoulder, and laughed, "You can attempt to practice ninjutsu of all five natures."
"Then, Grandfather..." Hayato looked at the Grand Elder with earnest eyes, like a child craving a new toy.
Seeing that look of longing for new knowledge, the Grand Elder couldn't help but chuckle, "Which nature would you like to start with?"
Only children make choices—though he was currently a child, Hayato spoke up directly, "Grandfather, I want them all."
The Grand Elder was about to say that a person's energy is limited, but remembering previous events, he swallowed his words.
He pondered for a moment before saying slowly, "Then I shall need to go prepare and select some practical ninjutsu for you."
Hayato was overjoyed; this was the benefit of being born into a ninja clan! Though, it was primarily because the talent he displayed made him worth such investment.
He said excitedly, "I can ask Father to teach me the clan's Shurikenjutsu. As for the Shadow Clone Technique..."
The Grand Elder nodded slightly, asking, "Has your academy started teaching the Three Basic Jutsu yet?"
Hayato answered truthfully, "No, the school only teaches some simple taijutsu and theoretical knowledge for now."
The Grand Elder nodded. Although Hayato lacked a foundation in the basic Clone Technique, it shouldn't hinder his ability to learn the Shadow Clone Technique. He began teaching Hayato the hand seals and the method for channeling chakra for the Shadow Clone Technique on the spot.
Although the Shadow Clone Technique was a B-rank jutsu, it only required a single hand seal; the difficulty lay in the manipulation and ratio of chakra. To learn it faster, Hayato activated his Sharingan, utilizing its powerful insight to master the technique.
Sure enough, it didn't take long before he had mastered the jutsu.
Having gained much from today's lesson, Hayato bid the Grand Elder farewell. The Grand Elder began to contemplate which ninjutsu he should select to further cultivate Hayato's abilities.
Recalling Hayato's astonishing performance in learning the C-rank Great Fireball Technique at a single glance, he decided to increase the difficulty of the ninjutsu he would select this time.
After much thought, he decided to aim for B-rank ninjutsu where possible. This would allow Hayato to be challenged without feeling overwhelmed.
"Being too much of a prodigy can sometimes be a headache," the Grand Elder muttered to himself, though his face was filled with pride and satisfaction.
After returning home, Hayato found Shota resting. He shouted excitedly, "Dad! I want to learn Shurikenjutsu, can you teach me?"
Upon hearing this, Shota immediately snapped out of his meditative state.
He had wanted to show off in front of his son for a while now, but hadn't had the chance. He didn't expect the opportunity to arrive today!
"No problem!" Shota agreed readily.
Shota's Shurikenjutsu was indeed impressive and possessed a certain artistic flair. It was far better than the techniques Hayato had been figuring out on his own.
From then on, Hayato added another item to his daily practice routine. He never grew tired of it, for with every bit of strength he gained, his confidence grew that much more.
The day after school, Hayato returned home to find the Grand Elder already waiting for him.
He trotted over to the Grand Elder and asked with great anticipation, "Grandfather! Are you here to give me the ninjutsu scrolls?"
The Grand Elder smiled, patted Hayato's head, and pulled five scrolls from his robes, saying, "No need to rush, you can learn them slowly."
Though he silently grumbled to himself that the cost was becoming a bit of a financial burden, the Grand Elder maintained a warm, gentle smile on his face.
Hayato happily accepted the scrolls and tucked them away with the utmost care. He knew now was not the time for study, so he did not rush to open them.
After dinner, Hayato returned to his room and spread the scrolls out one by one.
He carefully examined the descriptions of the ninjutsu on each scroll, a satisfied smile gradually spreading across his face.
Fire Release: Great Dragon Fire Technique.
Water Release: Water Formation Wall.
Earth Release: Earth Flow Wall.
Lightning Release: Earth Flash.
Wind Release: Vacuum Wave.
These five ninjutsu were indeed a very well-rounded selection. Two defensive ninjutsu, two long-range offensive ninjutsu, and one control-type ninjutsu.
It was clear that the Grand Elder had carefully considered his choices when selecting these techniques for him.
Just as Hayato was preparing to begin his training, a system interface suddenly popped up before his eyes. And the content displayed upon it had finally changed...
