Before dawn had broken, Guesthouse No. 3 was already brightly lit.
But this light held no warmth. It was shattered by layer upon layer of cordons and the silently standing ANBU, carrying a chilling, murderous coldness.
Baishi was not wearing the Hokage Haori, only simple black casual clothes as he walked down the corridor toward the crime scene. Half a step behind him followed Shikaku Nara.
Their footsteps were light, yet exceptionally distinct within the silent building.
Morita, the head of the Foreign Affairs Department, and several guesthouse managers had long been waiting at the door. Their expressions were grave, and upon seeing Baishi approach, they hurriedly bowed.
"Hokage-sama."
Baishi gave a slight nod, his gaze passing over them to settle on the half-open door.
"How is the situation?"
Morita handed over a freshly printed preliminary report, his tone filled with caution. "The Amegakure envoy's right arm was cut by a kunai. The wound was not deep, and medical ninja have already treated it. His emotions... are extremely agitated."
Baishi accepted the report without looking at it and walked straight into the room.
A faint scent of blood mingled with medicine hung in the air, though it was not strong.
The room was small and simply furnished, yet it was now crowded with people. Yamanaka Inoichi was directing members of the Sensory Unit as they used specialized instruments to collect residual Chakra information from the air. Several ANBU were carefully examining the doors, windows, and floor.
When he saw Baishi enter, Inoichi stopped working and quickly came forward.
"Hokage-sama."
"Inoichi, you led the team personally. Thanks for the effort." Baishi's tone was calm. "What did you find?"
Inoichi's expression was somewhat unpleasant. Turning sideways, he pointed to a spot on the floor circled in white chalk.
