Within the ancient castle under the beetles' frenzied assault.
A group of people stood by the castle windows, looking down below. Sweat dripped from their foreheads, while layer upon layer of fear surfaced in their eyes.
Though the castle had yet to fall, the terror in their hearts was endless.

"Patriarch, there are simply too many of these beetles. The restrictions and formations our Hu family ancestors left behind will sooner or later be broken by them. They can't hold out much longer. What are we supposed to do?" The crowd asked in panic, on the verge of tears.
The man addressed as the patriarch was a white-haired elder named Hu Yifan.
Hu Yifan clasped his hands behind his back and forced himself to remain calm, yet sweat was already streaming from the palm of his clenched fist.
Gritting his teeth, he sighed after a long while. "What can I do? I already used special means to contact the Sacred Domain, but those people are the most pragmatic of all. Seeing that the conditions offered by our Hu family were merely so-so, they were only willing to issue a bounty mission for the younger generation to train themselves with. They simply don't care whether we live or die."
"Then can't we offer better terms?" someone beside him asked.
"How can we increase them? Even if I emptied the Hu family to the last coin, it would still be a drop in the ocean to the people of the Sacred Domain. It isn't worth anything, and they wouldn't even spare it a glance. What can I do?" Hu Yifan was in unbearable pain as well.
