"Very well." Karura looked around and responded.
"You really are a woman of few words!" Senju Genma curled his lip and said.
"Hahaha! What incredible luck! Not only did I run into Sand Ninja, but also Konoha Ninja. Killing you all will be a great achievement to report back; Lord Hanzo will surely reward me!"
The lead Rain Ninja looked at the several ninja before him and laughed boisterously.
His side had an elite squad of seventeen, while the opposition totaled only nine, including two children. This was truly a merit handed to him on a silver platter.
He had no idea what kind of people he was actually facing!
"Who's there?!" A panicked voice came from beneath the Rain Ninja's respirator as he quickly dodged to the side.
Sakumo Hatake had already drawn the ninja blade from his back, its edge shimmering with white chakra light. Using the Body Flicker Technique, he arrived instantly before the Rain Ninja captain and brought his blade down.
Cold sweat poured down the Rain Ninja captain's face. He was an elite jonin, yet he had nearly been killed in a single strike.
He hurriedly shouted, "Attack together! Kill them!"
He realized the opposition was no simple matter; in the current situation, he had to fully utilize his side's numerical advantage.
The Rain Ninjas' gazes turned vicious as they charged in unison toward Sakumo Hatake and the other eight.
The scene descended into chaos instantly, the battlefield splitting into two: one side occupied by the Konoha Anbu, the other by the Sand Ninja.
Although the two sides were temporarily cooperating, neither was willing to leave their back exposed to ninja from another village.
"Take care of yourselves. I'll go deal with their leader first."
Sakumo Hatake knew Senju Genma's strength; having worked together for a year, he knew exactly how formidable the man was.
There were ten enemies surrounding them: one elite jonin, two jonin, and the rest were special jonin and chunin.
He felt at ease leaving Senju Genma and the four others behind, charging alone toward the Rain Ninja leader. If he killed him, the enemy would be left without a head.
Sakumo Hatake's speed was immense; the Rain Ninja chunin and special jonin could not intercept him at all.
A jonin immediately appeared beside the Rain Ninja leader to help him fend off Sakumo Hatake.
"Darkness Technique!"
Senju Genma charged into the crowd, unleashing a genjutsu to strip the Rain Ninja of their sight.
The Darkness Technique was a short-to-mid-range genjutsu with an effective radius of about ten meters. In an instant, four Rain Ninja were plunged into darkness.
Senju Genma glanced outside the range of his technique; there were four stragglers left.
Judging by their chakra levels, they were merely four special jonin and chunin. Shin and the others could handle them easily.
Senju Genma pulled out a scroll and summoned a giant shuriken and a Senju Greatsword nearly as tall as a man.
"Shuriken Shadow Clone Technique!"
The giant shuriken, glowing with blue light, shot toward the four Rain Ninja, splitting into over a dozen shuriken in mid-air.
Although the three chunin and the special jonin reacted, it was difficult to block all the shuriken while deprived of their vision. Furthermore, most ninja were fragile; once a shuriken hit, it meant instant death.
The jonin, however, lived up to his rank. Even without sight, he relied on his keen hearing and perception to block the shuriken.
He wielded his sickle and drew a kunai from his pouch, swinging them rapidly. Although he was forced back by the sheer force of Senju Genma's strikes, he managed to deflect the shuriken one by one.
"Release!" The Rain jonin realized he was under a genjutsu and formed the Tiger seal to dispel it.
Finding it ineffective, he stabbed himself with his kunai; the pain disrupted his chakra flow, breaking the illusion.
Senju Genma's eyes flickered. He hadn't expected to run into such a ruthless man who would stab himself.
It just went to show that no one who reached the rank of jonin was a simple character.
"Water Release: Water Clone!"
The Rain jonin used the water flow to condense a clone. Unlike a shadow clone, a water clone only possessed ten percent of the original's power.
One clone held its sickle at its waist, while the other quickly formed seals.
"Iai!"
"Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet Technique!"
In the Land of Rain, where the downpour was constant, both the water clone and the Water Dragon Bullet were significantly empowered.
However, it wasn't just the Rain Ninja who could use Water Release.
"Water Release: Heavenly Weeping!" Senju Genma spat water needles from his mouth at the clone preparing the Iai strike. The clone raised its sickle to block but was knocked back. Genma immediately used the Body Flicker Technique to dodge the Water Dragon Bullet, taking the opportunity to split off a Wood Clone to entangle the water clone while he charged at the Rain jonin.
Facing the rapidly approaching Senju Genma, the Rain jonin abandoned his ninjutsu and raised his sickle to engage in taijutsu.
The Rain jonin's swordsmanship was indeed impressive—likely a true inheritance from Hanzo—but compared to the Senju Greatsword, the sickle was insufficient. After a few exchanges, it was shattered. Facing the disarmed Rain jonin, Genma simply swung his greatsword a few times and took his head.
Before he could even catch his breath, a petite figure flew over his head. Genma leaped lightly and grabbed Karura by the collar.
"Are you alright?"
He looked at Karura; her Armor of Sand was already beginning to crack.
It was clear that fighting two jonin simultaneously was too much pressure for her, especially since the watery environment of the Land of Rain was unfavorable for her Magnet Release.
"I'm fine!" Karura gritted her teeth and replied.
"Water Release: Surging Waves!"
A Hidden Rain Village jonin converted the chakra condensed within his body into water, spraying a high-pressure jet at the ground to form a tidal wave that surged toward the two of them.
"Wood Release: Wood Locking Wall!"
A row of wooden pillars curved up from the ground to form an arched barrier, shielding the pair. The tidal wave crashed against it without leaving a single mark.
The other jonin threw a sickle, utilizing its chain and the surrounding trees to strike at Senju Genma from a bizarre angle.
Senju Genma raised his Senju Greatsword to parry, simultaneously channeling chakra into the blade, causing it to emit a blue glow.
The two jonin had witnessed the miserable fate of their predecessors and, determined not to repeat the same mistake, hurriedly widened the distance to avoid close-quarters combat, opting to unleash ninjutsu from afar.
Genma had no intention of standing there to be a punching bag; he began hurling shuriken and kunai at the two to disrupt them.
The two jonin raised their sickles to deflect the projectiles, interrupting their ninjutsu. Unlike Genma, they required hand seals to perform their techniques.
The two Rain jonin stared with grave expressions, standing their ground to confront Genma while remaining on high alert.
"How is this possible?" With a cry of shock, Genma suddenly appeared beside one of the jonin and sliced him in half at the waist; at his feet lay a shuriken engraved with a strange formula.
"Flying Thunder God Slash!" Genma stated coldly.
The surviving jonin did not panic, instead leaping toward a tree in the rear, desperate to find a safe position.
Genma would not let him off so easily: "Water Release: Water Bullet Barrage!"
Water bullets, sharp as lead, shot from his hands, strafing the jonin.
"Water Release: Water Formation Wall!"
The Rain jonin quickly formed hand seals, raising a wall of water from the ground up to protect himself, but this cost him his mobility!
"Water Release: Water Prison Technique!" Genma used the Body Flicker Technique to arrive at his side, and a massive volume of water enveloped the jonin along with his Water Formation Wall. The wall quickly dissipated, and the jonin began to struggle for breath.
Genma had noticed long ago that this jonin, unlike most Rain Ninja, did not wear a respirator. Watching the Rain jonin slowly lose the ability to move, Genma released the Water Prison Technique and decapitated him with the Senju Greatsword.
Having dealt with the two jonin, he turned to find Sakumo Hatake and Team Shin standing to the side, watching him.
"You've already finished?"
Sakumo Hatake spread his hands and said with a smile, "Of course!"
"Then why didn't you come help me sooner instead of just standing there watching the show?!" Senju Genma retorted irritably.
"The main purpose of this mission is to train you; what would be the point if I helped?" Sakumo Hatake's expression remained indifferent, clearly not taking Senju Genma's words to heart.
Senju Genma didn't believe his nonsense for a second.
You must be holding a grudge because I threatened your son. Just you wait, your son is definitely going to get a beating.
Kakashi, it's not me who is wrong, it's your father!
