After a long while.
The stars and moon painted a beautiful picture.
The sky above the gorge was dotted with countless stars, as though someone had scattered crushed diamonds across a deep blue satin cloth.
The Milky Way stretched across from the southeast, dividing the heavens in two. The moonlight was silver-white like water, quietly flowing into every corner of the gorge.
"Wow!"
Having just finished absorbing the Lovesick Heartbreak Red, Xiao Wu opened her eyes and stared at her hands in disbelief.
"It really is just like Brother said—I went straight to level forty?"
As she spoke, she let her hands fall weakly and looked up at the starry sky, her expression so complicated that it seemed as though she were questioning the heavens.
"But isn't this way too ridiculous?"
"What was all my previous hard training even for?"
"Does it count as me being diligent?"
"Sigh!"
She first sighed and patted her forehead, but soon nodded as though consoling herself and muttered,
"Forget it, whatever. It's not a bad thing, anyway."
"I'll relax for a while first, then condense my Soul Ring later."
She lay flat on the ground where she stood, both hands tucked beneath her head, her whole body sprawled across the grass in the shape of a large character.
Moonlight fell across her face. After absorbing the Lovesick Heartbreak Red, her skin had become even fairer and more delicate, like a fine piece of mutton-fat jade glowing with a warm luster.
Her expression gradually relaxed as she murmured softly.
"My tongue seems to be even smoother now..."
"Brother should be even happier from now on..."
As she spoke, she withdrew her left hand and slowly reached toward her body.
The instant her fingertips touched Soft Rabbit, a clear moan spilled from her lips.
Xiao Wu's body suddenly trembled as though struck by an electric current, and even the hairs on her arms stood on end.
She snatched her hand back as though shocked, her heart pounding faster and faster.
"So sensitive..."
She buried her burning face in the crook of her arm and muttered in a muffled voice.
"If Brother fans the flames again in the future, won't I become like a baby who can't control herself?"
She puffed out her cheeks and began quietly plotting to herself.
Later, I'll steal some Wild Donkey Is Not As Good As Me from Brother's Soul Tool, then find a way to make him eat it.
If he won't eat me, I'll find a way to eat him...
Eating is eating, so what does it matter who eats whom?
"Whew—"
At that thought, Xiao Wu's eyes instantly lit up.
She let out a long breath, slowly sat up, patted the heat from her cheeks, then crossed her legs where she was, closed her eyes, and began circulating her origin power to condense her fourth Soul Ring.
The next day.
The sun had already risen high, yet the thin mist within the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well had yet to disperse.
Zhao Linchuan and Xiao Wu finished cultivating almost one after the other.
Zhao Linchuan stood naked beside the Ice and Fire Spring, his entire body drenched, droplets of water running down the contours of his muscles.
"Wow..."
Xiao Wu slowly stood up some distance away, staring at him without blinking.
From his features to his chest, from his abs to... her gaze traveled all the way down before stopping somewhere. Her pupils slightly widened as she instinctively licked her lips and swallowed.
"Xiao Wu, you're awake. Perfect, let's go."
Zhao Linchuan swiftly took out a new set of clothes from his Soul Tool and said as he dressed,
"We can't stay here long. Once we're out, we can relax a little."
"Okay, okay." Xiao Wu wiped the drool from the corner of her mouth. Her gaze lingered on him for a while longer before she reluctantly looked away. "Then let's hurry."
"Mm." Zhao Linchuan had already finished dressing. Clad in a dark fitted outfit with a belt around his waist, he looked full of vigor.
He walked over to Xiao Wu, took her hand, and interlaced his fingers with hers as the two slowly headed out.
When they reached the crack leading out of the gorge, Zhao Linchuan suddenly stopped.
Standing before the narrow rock crevice, he turned around and glanced at the gorge, which had already become as barren as a plucked quail, a mischievous smile curling his lips.
"What's wrong, Brother?" Xiao Wu asked in confusion.
"I'm leaving a message for the owner of this gorge."
With a wicked grin, Zhao Linchuan took a dagger from his Soul Tool. Cold light flashed as its blade reflected a harsh white gleam beneath the sunlight.
The blade cut into the rock with a scraping hiss. Stone chips flew as he carved:
"This treasured land belongs to the Clear Sky Sect. Trespassers shall be killed. Left by Howling Sky Douluo Tang Xiao."
"Not bad, not bad..."
Zhao Linchuan looked at his "calligraphy," the mischievous grin on his face deepening.
"Hehe." He put the dagger back into his Soul Tool and brushed the stone dust from his hands. "Let's go, Xiao Wu. It's time to leave."
"Okay."
Xiao Wu glanced at the words on the stone wall, then at Zhao Linchuan's face, which practically screamed I'm up to no good, before following behind him out of the gorge.
After walking a few steps, she suddenly spoke.
"Brother, who is Tang Xiao?"
"...A clown."
The moon hung high in the sky.
Large and round, it hung in midair like a silver-white bronze mirror, scattering its cold radiance across the earth.
The mountains beneath the moonlight rose layer upon layer like distant peaks in an ink-wash painting, their shades perfectly balanced.
After leaving Sunset Forest, Zhao Linchuan and Xiao Wu rushed nonstop toward the deep mountains they had selected beforehand.
The two crossed ridges and streams before finally stopping in a secluded valley.
A clear brook ran through the valley, and they set up camp on a flat patch of ground by the water.
Zhao Linchuan pitched the tent while Xiao Wu gathered firewood.
Once everything had been settled, the two finally took off their clothes and jumped into the stream to wash up.
After washing, they returned to the tent and helped each other relax for a while.
The lamp in the tent had now gone out. Only moonlight leaked through the gaps in the fabric, drawing a thin white line across the ground.
Xiao Wu lay beside Zhao Linchuan, one of her thighs draped over his stomach. She spoke in a soft, coquettish voice.
"Brother, wasn't I especially amazing today?"
"It took me less than a quarter of an hour to take you down."
"Your brother was just too excited today." Zhao Linchuan explained, his fingers kneading her waist with neither too much nor too little force. "That's why I let you have your way so quickly. When is it ever normally this easy?"
As he spoke, his hand slid lower as he continued,
"Why were you like a baby today? We changed the sheets several times. We almost used up all the sheets in my Soul Tool."
"Ah, don't bring that up..." Xiao Wu shook Zhao Linchuan unhappily and quickly changed the subject. "Let me tell you about my gains."
"I successfully condensed a ten-thousand-year fourth Soul Ring."
She continued on her own, her tone carrying a hint of pride.
"Originally, with the Lovesick Heartbreak Red's enhancement, I was confident that I could condense a fourth Soul Ring of around twenty thousand years."
"But if I did that, my remaining origin power wouldn't be enough to condense a fifth Soul Ring with a high age limit."
"Helplessly, I could only make some compromises."
"Mm..."
